All of a sudden, the Mezzmo service would not start (Windows 7)

No errors in the event log (other than system messages about the service timing out)

I start the Windows app Mezzmo and some message pops up on the screen about an issue with the database, and that the files would be renamed.

I didn't have logging turned on, so I don't have anything to upload - but if we could put the old database back, then maybe? I'll be able to get something logged?

Problem is I am not sure how to revert to the old database files.

There is a file in the mezzmo database folder named Mezzmo.bak_err, and it's timestamp is about the time that the app started having a problem.

BTW, the machine has not installed any new system patches since August last month.

Hi,
this indicates that your Mezzmo database has become corrupt so a new empty database has been created. You will find the old database in your Mezzmo database folder (see options in Mezzmo for the location) with a .bak_err extension, if you send us this file to support [at] conceiva [dot] com we can investigate to see if the database can be recovered. It may be too large to email so you can upload it to a file sharing site and send us a download link in the email.

File has been uploaded and link has been emailed.

I'm recreating the database now, but if I can find out what happened to possibly avoid this in the future that would be great.

Thanks

Joe

Hi Joe,
we downloaded the database and exported it as sql then tried to re-import it but the sql failed to import due to errors resulting from the corruption. The file on disk was damaged for some reason that we cannot tell from the database file. We recommend backing up your Mezzmo database using the backup button in options regularly so that you have a backup if corruption occurs.

That is good to know.

Can the backup's be scheduled? Like maintenance?

Currently it is not possible to schedule backups of the db but we may add this in a future update.
