I recently purchased a vizio smart tv. mostly due to large screen for the price. unfortunately the issue im running into is that the media player within this particular tv does not go past one level within a directory structure, and or does not handle multiple directories well. I can get it to enter one level of a directory but that is it. The TV i am using is a Vizio D55-D2 smart tv model. The media player picks up the server however mezzmo does not pick it up on the play to option. The tablet software also does not pick it up. Is there a way for the android tablet app, to force pick up the TV to stream? The profile im currently using the Vizio smart TV (2015 models).

What i was attempting to do as an alternate to trying to pull up directories that do not want to come up within the tv system. I was attempting to use the mezzmo android app to pick up the tv and choose from the tablet to play the item. I can do this with other devices that are connected to my network but not this specific tv and i cannot figure out why. any help is appreciated.

thank you

Peter

Hi,
the TV is probably not a DMR (Digital Media Renderer) and does not implement the AVTransport interface so this is why it does not appear in Play To or in Mezzmo Android.
There are a few reasons why it may not allow browsing beyond 1 level, the first could be that it does not support folder thumbnails so you can try disabling these by going to 'Media Devices' and double-click the TV in the list then on the Performance tab uncheck the box for delivering folder artwork. Then try browsing the server on the TV. Another reason might be the type being used for the container, try changing the profile to the 'WD TV' profile as a test then browse the server on the TV to see if this allows browsing more than 1 level. Another possibility is a timeout while browsing a folder, folders can take longer to browse than a smart playlist as Mezzmo goes to the disk to get a list of files so you can try browsing playlists instead of folders if you have mostly folders in your library.

I was able to test out multiple things, to no avail, so i did some investigating and sadly found out that this model of tv, will no longer be supported with proper apps. It will be returned shortly. Vizio apparently went with a yahoo store setup that is slowly dying a slow death and alot of apps are disappearing. They also do not approve of any apps that do not make them some form of money apparently. lesson learned, i think ill stick to sony bravia smart tv. quite dependable for me. Thank you again Peter for all the help always on track and on the ball with assistance.
