Are there any plans to enable casting to Chromecast directly from Mezzmo desktop exe via the 'Play To' function rather than the clunky 'Android app' solution? Note that Windows apps like AllCast seem to be able to cast seamlessly to Chromecast from within the Windows OS without requiring the use of an additional OS/device and for much less than the premium price of Mezzmo. Having just purchased Mezzmo - I'd have to say the Windows support is feeling rather old and tired.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, Google's Cast API is not supported on Windows so that's why we don't have native casting to Chromecast in Mezzmo (Windows) app.

Actually we think using Mezzmo Android to browse and play your files on your devices, including your Chromecast, is very convenient :). If there's something you don't like about it, let us know and we'll look into it.

Hi Paul

The main objection I have is that the need to use an android device is completely unnecessary. I refer you to at least two apps on the windows 10 store that can achieve this magic thing completely within Windows environment (see Duplex Media, and Allcast)... in fact I have started using Duplex Media in preference to Mezzmo because it works so well... and is touch aware.

Hi caitken,
thanks for the information, you could try using the Mezzmo Web interface in the Chrome browser and install a chromecast addon to chrome to allow casting files to the chromecast from the Mezzmo web interface.

Hi Peter

This is my Plan B - mainly because Mezzmo uses IE as its default browser ... it would be great if Mezzmo allowed you to set the browser... then the option to cast from Chrome might be my Plan A option. Current Duplex Media beats Mezzmo hands down on this front as I can simply cast from within the app.

Mezzmo uses the default browser in Windows to launch the web access so if you have IE as the default browser then IE will be used. You can change the default browser to chrome if you want chrome to be launched instead, you will need to do this in Windows settings.

Come on people - has anyone here actually run Mezzmo on Windows 10? (it seems to be news around here)... FYI default browser is set in Default Apps as Microsoft Edge - however Mezzmo ignores this setting on Windows 10 and fires up IE... might have worked on Windows 7 guys but that was a while ago now. Mezzmo looks and behaves like a legacy desktop app under Windows 10... lets face it - room for improvement and certainly not worth the asking price.

My PC here is running Windows 10 and I have the default browser set to Chrome so that when I click on the Web Browser button in Mezzmo it launches Chrome. We are constantly working to improve Mezzmo and are currently working on version 5.1, we may look at improving the user interface in the Mezzmo application after 5.1 is released.

Just checked this again. I am running the latest release of windows 10 and I have installed Chrome. I go to Windows Settings - Default Apps - Web Browser and set this to Chrome. Start Mezzmo and hit the Browser button in Mezzmo and it loads IE. Glad to hear that some interface improvements are in the pipeline.

Strange result. What happens if you double-click on (say) a .html file in Windows Explorer? Does it run Chrome? If not, then something is not right with your default web browser settings in Windows 10.

Setting default browser to Chrome and then opening html file in windows explorer opens in Chrome. Go to Mezzmo hit browser button - opens in IE. Note this on a near vanilla install of windows 10.

We have reproduced the same results here on a clean Windows 10 PC and are investigating how to resolve this issue.
