I've noticed mezzmo is a bit clunky on some of my Tvs It isn't mezzmo for sure or my server because it's super fast on one of my samsungs but I was curious with the 4K tvs now super low around Black Friday - does anyone have a brand and model that plays practically every codec/container and file with ease and is super responsive? I thought about purchasing a nonsmart 4K and having a roku/firestick perform the mezzmo action but the wasn't sure if the devs or users here had a great manufacturer that really beats out competitors.

Ps. I love my mezzmo. Have had it for years and wife thinks I'm a genius for having it! Doesn't take stock that almost our entire house has smart locks, doors, dimmers, outlets and alarms.....

Hi,
from our experience with creating device profiles for TVs there are no TVs that play practically every codec/container, transcoding is always required for some formats be they flv, avi, mkv, etc. Most smart TVs support mp4 with h254 and aac, not as many support h265 but this is becoming more common. If you are looking for a TV that will be able to give you a choice it is best to get a TV that has Android TV as the OS because this gives you the option to install any app you want to play the files and the app determines the file support and metadata display, we recommend the Mezzmo app which should play most formats and codecs. If you want to get a nonsmart 4K TV then you can get a Fire TV Stick or a generic Android stick but you need to make sure the Stick supports 4K (newer FireTV sticks do). Format support for Roku is limited to mkv and mp4 without support for AC3 audio.
