Hello,

Is there a way to play remotelly one mezzmo library on another mezzmo instance? It could be on the same network (pointless) or over the internet using a VPN connection for instance.

Would it be possible to have DLNA announcements form Mezzmo over the VPN (PPTP)? I heard that UPnP/DLNA use Multicast, which are not advertised under VPN.

I wan't to remote access my library over the internet using a VPN or not, but I don't want to use a web browser or an Android App for example. To be more specific it would be over DLNA on the last mile but sharing the library over the internet.

Has anyone played with this?

Thanks

Hi,
there is something similar discussed https://community.ubnt.com/t5/EdgeMAX/DLNA-between-two-sites-connected-via-VPN/td-p/689235 so depending upon your router you may be able to follow their solution.

I don't think my equipments will be able to do the job but i'm still trying. I was thinking that the "Add Address" option in Mezzmo would be able to add another Mezzmo instance which I would then forward the necessary port on my router, but no luck with that.

Can you please tell us about the devices you would be streaming to, possibly you could add the IP address of the server manually by IP and this would avoid the need to use SSDP for discovery.

The devices i would be streaming to would be LG TV (2013 profile) and Samsung TV. These devices already work fine with Mezzmo, but the library I would be streaming from, is located on another site which I connect to using VPN. I am trying to use OpenVpn in a Bridge configuration so that SSDP may be forwarded between both sites. But OpenVPN is not so simple like a PPTP server configuration, so I'm doing some reading.

Thanks

No luck with VPN services to forward SSDP packets. After a lot of testing I will give up with VPN connection because there is a huge drop on network speeds since it uses processing and encryption, which really affects streaming over the internet. I realized that port forwarding allows me to get the highest speeds.

Now my question is, Is there a way to add a Mezzmo Web Server on a remote location to a local Mezzmo instance? Watching on browsers over the internet with port forwarding works pretty fine but I don't want to have a laptop connected to a TV through HDMI when I have my home completely ethernet wired.

I tried to add the URL (http://myip: port/web) in different ways which led me to different errors.

Any helps will be appreciated.

Thanks

If your TV has a web browser you can load the Mezzmo web interface using the URL http://ip:port/web as you have tried, can you tell us more about the errors you have received?

If you have an android device you can use Mezzmo Android to push files from the Mezzmo server to the device, once the Mezzmo server has been detected by the app go to the server list and long click on the server then select to make it sticky and this will keep it in the list. Then when you are using the app where it cannot connect to the server on the local network it will use the remote access port to connect over the Internet. You can then select the TV in the device list in the app and browse to files in the app and touch them to play on the device.
