Hello,

I have MKVs with embedded Subtitles, playing media on my PC with VLC Player, the subs are present and play properly. When delivered to my TV via Mezzmo, no subtitles are available.

I've included the subtitle configuration on my device profile below. The ask here, is how do I enable embedded sub playback without any transcoding? Is this possible?

For reference, MkvToolNix shows my subs in the HDMV_PGS format.

<subtitles>
<encodings bom="no">65001,1250,1251,1252,1254</encodings>
<allowembedded formats="srt,subrip,text,xsub,hdmv_pgs_subtitle" avcontainers="matroska,avi">yes</allowembedded>
<allowexternal formats="srt,microdvd,tmplayer,tmplayem">yes</allowexternal>
<allowburnings>yes</allowburnings>
</subtitles>

Thanks!

Your profile subtitles section is fine, it does allow to stream original file with embedded hdmv_pgs_subtitle (without transcoding).
Your TV should list these tracks in a corresponding menu - may be you just need to nominate one - usually default option is not to display subtitles.
Note: if for any other reason video file is transcoded, subtitles should be burned, and you should see it.
Otherwise, send us a log file, that may help to see what is happening.http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging

OK, I've got this working.

Bit of messing about, but basically the TV doesn't appear to support the native HDMV_PGS subtitles. I've converted the English track into an IDX\SUB file pair, and re-inserted them into the MKV as a new embedded subtitle track. This shows up on the TV OK.
