View Full Version : Missing Playlist Images, What did I do wrong?

I built a new PC three weeks ago, loaded Windows 10 on it and installed Mezzmo. I was having trouble migrating my libraries from my old machine, so I created all the libraries from scratch. I went into each movie's properties, matched it to a movie from the online metadata and locked it. Everything works fine from client machines - I can browse to any library and I will see the poster art and the description, and then I can play the movie pretty smoothly.

Last weekend I loaded KODI on the same machine so that I could stream music to that new PC Running Mezzmo from an Android tablet. This week, I noticed that if I log into that PC either from the "console" or via remote desktop, none of the poster art shows up. I'm just getting the default image of a blue filmstrip. I tried restarting Mezzmo, restarting the PC, refreshing the library and even "Maintain Library". If I go into the properties for any movie the poster is still there. It makes things unpleasant when I'm adding new movies, as I can't tell which ones already have the correct metadata.

Any idea as to what I might have messed up? It was working fine a week ago.

If the posters still display in Mezzmo in the Application then it could be a problem with transcoded files, try going to 'Media Devices' and double click the device in the list then on the Transcoding tab click the button to delete transcoded files then see if this resolves the problem. Please also make sure the device profile for the PC is set to Kodi in 'Media Devices' and if it is not then double-click the device and change the profile to Kodi.

I must not have explained it clearly. The posters display on all the clients, but they don't work in the Mezzmo application.

If the posters are displaying on the clients then this means it is the opposite and the transcoded files exist but the original posters do not. Please go to your Mezzmo database folder (see options for it's location) and then check in the Artwork folder to see if the Posters exist. If they do then it might be a permissions problem so try double-clicking one of them to view it.

OK, so the database folder has almost 8,000 images. When I double click on a movie in the Mezzmo interface, it opens up the description with the correct poster image. But when I go back to browsing I'm only seeing the filmstrip icon with no artwork.

Is there a permission I need to check?

If the poster displays when you go to the description then Mezzmo is able to load the posters from disk and the permissions are correct. If you go to the properties of the file does the poster appear also, try right-clicking on a file and select properties to see if the poster is shown.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Do you mean go to the file from the file system? (Windows?) Or do you mean go to the file from Mezzmo and right click the selected movie? When I right click on the movie from Mezzmo and go to properties it is showing the poster.

I mean the second one, going to the properties of the movie in Mezzmo. Since Mezzmo is showing the poster this means the problem could be in the transcoding folder, Mezzmo transcodes posters for devices to adjust the size. Please go to 'Media Devices' in Mezzmo and double-click on the device that corresponds to the computer running Kodi then on the Transcoding tab click the button to delete transcoded files then go to Kodi and see if the posters appear. You can also try installing the Mezzmo Kodi addon in Kodi if you are not already using this to see if this shows the posters as it is possible that Kodi has cached the information and is using old URLs to try and get the posters.

I had a similar problem today, I uncleanly shut down my pc :X and all the poster images were missing for all my movies, descriptions were intact and background art seemed ok, the images were still in the poster directory but not showing up in mezzmo, I had to go through each movie and re-add the metadata from the internet, so I am guessing the problem is due to some corruption in the mezzmo db.

The poster information is stored in the MGOPoster table so possibly the unclean shutdown damaged this table causing the loss of all the data.

I followed your instructions but that doesn't seem to have changed anything. I think I need to restate the problem, as some of the comments in your resolution seems a little off course.

First, please forget about KODI. The only reason I brought it up is that I first noticed the problem after installing KODI on the same PC as the Mezzmo server. Two days later, I uninstalled KODI hoping it might fix things. To be clear, I'm not trying to fix KODI ( a client ), I'm trying to fix Mezzmo (the server).

Second, all clients that connect to the Mezzmo server can see the posters and descriptions. I have about four Android tablets, two Blu Ray players, and two laptop computers that I've used as clients. I'm having a separate issue with one of the blu ray players, but all of the other client machines can browse to the Mezzmo server and see the posters and descriptions.

The Problem: In the Mezzmo Server application no posters are visible. If I open the properties of the video I can see the poster and the backdrop, but when I exit the properties all the movies in the Mezzmo library show up with a filmstrip Icon. This makes it difficult to figure out which movies have not been assigned video metadata. I'm adding about 25 titles a week, so this is a pretty good sized irritation.

My Mezzmo Server name is PirateChest (my kids picked that out). Following your directions, I selected PirateChest from Media Devices and deleted the transcoded files. I then did a refresh in the Mezzmo Server Library and I'm still just seeing the filmstrip icons.

I think I understand what is happening now but can you please take a screenshot of the Mezzmo application with no posters visible? If posters are visible in properties then they should be visible in the thumbnail list, can you also enable diagnostic logging http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?id=using_logging&s[]=diagnostic then after restarting Mezzmo go to a playlist where the posters are not visible then send the logs to support [at] conceiva [dot] com so that we can see if any errors are reported.

Hi tomazzz,
could you please send us your Mezzmo.db file so that we can inspect the path used for the posters? Go to options in Mezzmo to find the database's location then stop your Mezzmo media server and exit Mezzmo and add the Mezzmo.db to a zip and send it to support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

We are testing it now using your database. Does the problem occur with all posters or just those on the walking dead?

We reproduced it here, if you go to the toolbar in Mezzmo and select View it will be currently set to icons so you will need to change this to Medium Thumbnails to get the posters again.
