Hi i have just noticed that clients are downloading the media off my server using the browser login . The allow direct download is not ticked so they should not be able to download? Is this a bug can you check it out and supply a patch if it is or is there another setting that need to be applied. It looks like they are selecting Download media file using web browser in the options i have just checked the login and comfurm it let me download it even know the allow direct downloads is not ticked.

Hi,
technically any streaming of a video is a download so it is not possible to prevent users from downloading a video via the web interface. Disabling the direct download button is a method to prevent the user from being able to download but once the user has the url for streaming then it can be used to download the video.

yes i understand once they have the url they could use another program BUT im shore in the last ver if the download media direct was not ticked then the Download media file using web browser in the web interface was not there to be selected? or am i wrong its because of this they are able to just click download media on the player. If this is the case then what does that option allow direct media download do? see this link https://www.dropbox.com/s/yuo1c7egyokhezu/Untitled.png?dl=0 this shows the option to download using the browser even know the option of allow direct media download is not tick should this not be available? thanks

Direct media downloads allow downloading the original file, the option to download the file for playback allows opening the URL in another player when using a device such as a mobile phone.

its weird because if the Download media file using web browser option was not there it will work fine you can not download the file through the interface when this is not ticked. But because its there all the time no matter what all they have to do is select it and they can use it to download the file this way see pic https://www.dropbox.com/s/yuo1c7egyokhezu/Untitled.png?dl=0 so now they can download useing the interface even if the allow direct media download is not ticked ?? if that option is not there the download option in the picture is not there ether with will fix the problem as its not available. thanks

When the download option is selected in the player options then the url is loaded in the browser and this is the browser's own player that is showing the download button.

yes this is correct so this option need to have a enable or disable in the server part under web. with this off you will not be able to download i have tested it and that download link is not available in the browser options when that option is not selected. if there is no way to turn this off is there a way to downgrade the browser part of the software because on the last ver this was not a problem and worked. Maybe because that option was not there as i never saw it before. thanks for your help :) the problem is i had one client that was downloading 7 movies at a time on the one account and that just eats up bandwidth which is why i have all downloading off in the ver before this one and never got any downloading through the browser. Here is a good example of a client that is download on mitiable connection at a time with is why i want to be able to turn off that option in the interface https://www.dropbox.com/s/yuo1c7egyokhezu/Untitled.png?dl=0

There have been no changes to Mezzmo in this area so this option has always been available. Users may also be able to find the download URL using the browser's developer tools where all the URLs and their mimetype can be viewed.

arrrr forgive me this is the first time i have seen this and i now see it has been there on the last ver. But is there anyway to remove that last selection (Download media file using web browser option ) or even allow admin to disable it?. With out the option to stop the download using the interface browser im going to have to stop all clients from using it. I know there are other ways of getting the content but to the stranded user they only see that option (and for others that do know how to get the links and don't ably and do download using other ways i can just disable there account). Its becoming a pain because of the bandwidth of some users are using downloading mituible files at a time and i don't really want them to have access to download them only stream them. Or worst case can there be a way to stop them downloading unlimited files at a time it would be good to only allow 1 connection from that ip at a time thanks again

Yes I think we can add a setting to hide this, send an email to support [at] conceiva [dot] com and we will send you a patch to try.

i just need a way to clear the users browser cookies as it is remembering the the old setting Download media file using web browser option even known its not there so they can still download. the only way it will stop is if the user selects html5 and saves this will over right the saved cookies or del the users browser cookies this will then make a new one and set the html5 to the default disabling Download media file using web browser option. thanks again
