I tried adding a new movie into the folder structure. The title shows up in Mezzmo on the computer, under both the folder location, as well as the playlists 'recently added titles', and 'all movies'. The issue I am running into is this - when I go to either of my two KODI boxes, neither one sees the movie - either in the specific folder, or under either playlists 'recently added titles' nor 'all movies'. I've tried running the RAW MAINTENANCE add-on (Clear Cache, Delete Thumbnails, Purge Packages). I've tried restarting the KODI boxes. I've tried rebooting my computer. I've tried running maintenance a few times. Nothing I do is getting the title to list. I even tried copying the title to a new name, but even that didn't help. I've got about 3100 movie titles in my database. Have I reached a limit??

Here's the really weird part - which I just tested. I made another copy of the movie, and gave it a different title. Moved it into a different folder. The movie then shows up in the KODI box. Ok, so I think, let me take this movie with the renamed title, move it back to the folder it's supposed to be in. Run maintenance again to make sure the database accurately reflects the folder contents. Check KODI and boom, the renamed movie is showing up in the original folder. So now, I rename the file BACK to it's original name, ran maintenance again... and... the title once again disappears from the KODI box.

So, in the end, just to get the movie to be seen by the KODI box, I added an exclamation mark to the beginning of the title... and then it shows up.

I'm at a compete loss to explain what is happening... can you guys?

Are you using the Mezzmo Kodi addon? The Mezzmo Kodi addon gets the file list each time you browse a folder but Kodi's own UPnP browser will cache the contents so loading a playlist may not show new files immediately.

It could also be an issue with the title, can you post the title as it was when it did not appear and also what you changed it to when it did appear?

Yes, I am using the MEZZMO KODI addon. And I'm still running the Jarvis version of Kodi (16.1).

The name which refused to show up in the list was: "Showgirls (1995).mp4". To get it to show up, I renamed it to: "!Showgirls (1995).mp4"

[yeah, I know... a lame movie... but that's besides the issue :) ]

So there are no funny characters in the title which might cause a problem, possibly it is a content rating issue. Do you have content rating protection set for Kodi to hide R rated movies?

Nope. Nothing like that is set up. I see all ratings. Nothing is blocked. Plus, the title appears after just changing the name, and disappears when I named it back.

Really bizarre.

I'm not even sure if I'd be able to capture something like this in the logs.

Mezzmo will get the metadata from the internet for Showgirls (1995).mp4 but !Showgirls (1995).mp4 will not match any results so should have no metadata except what is in the file itself. Please try going to the properties of the file in Mezzmo and check the content rating to see if it is R or equivalent and try changing the content rating to G as a test to see if it appears in Kodi.

I believe I figured out the issue. I have the content streaming configured to NOT stream X or higher. This particular movie was rated NC-17. When I changed the rating to an R, it then showed up.

As far as the renaming magic - I wasn't actually populating the metadata - I was first trying to get it to show up, and then I was generating the metadata. It wasn't until I didn't auto-populate the metadata that it was showing up. But then when I ran maintenance again, and the content rating changed from the R I had assigned to it back to the NC-17 (because that was how it was set in the files), the title disappeared.

I was able to recreate this phenomena with 'Eyes Wide Shut', another NC-17 title.

So I learned that NC-17 is at least equivalent to an X as far as Mezzmo is concerned.

Thanks for the help on this!
