View Full Version : Kodi does not load SRT subtitles

Hi to all,

I am running Mezzmo 5.1.1 to organize and play all of my movie library, many of which have .SRT subtitle files. In all cases, the subtitle files have the same filename as the movie file, and are located in the same folder. I can connect to my Mezzmo library with a number of programs (including many versions of XBMC) and play movies which automatically load these subtitle files flawlessly.

But NOT with Kodi, at least not v16 and 17, which are the only versions I have tried so far. FYI, I am not using the Mezzmo Kodi add-on as I cannot get that to work properly either. Perhaps that is for a separate post.

Kodi WILL, however, automatically load the SRT files if I open the video file directly from disk (i.e. without Mezzmo). Needless to say, this is not a viable option.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? Thanks.

Hi,
first thing to check is the profile being used by Mezzmo for Kodi, please go to 'Media Devices' in Mezzmo and make sure the Kodi profile is selected for the device running Kodi. Next go to the properties of the file in Mezzmo and make sure that on the subtitles tab the subtitles are listed, if they are not then you can select to add the subtitles and find them on disk then add them to the file.

For the issue with the Kodi plugin you can try downloading the latest from https://github.com/Conceiva/MezzmoKodiPlugin then add it to Kodi to see if this works better.

I use Mezzmo and Kodi for iPad regularly, and SRT work for me OK. I do however need to enable the subtitles to view while watching. Tap the Cog for settings and slide on Subtitles. So it seems Mezzmo does support SRT on Kodi. Mine are named the same name .SRT.
