View Full Version : integrate IMDb (+ RT?) movie ratings

I'd really like to see Mezzmo pull ratings from IMDb and put that number on the card for each movie.
To make it even cooler, do a weighted average of the ratings from IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes.

Here's why:
When I sit down for my evening viewing, I'll start by looking (via Mezzmo) at what's in my "New Flix" folder.
I'd really like to see which of those 10 to 30 movies has the highest rating -- and that's what I'll most likely watch.
Granted, IMDb/RT ratings are highly fallible, especially when there aren't many reviews -- but it's better than nothing.

Yes, I can now get to the ratings number by clicking the IMDb link on each Mezzmo card, but that's tedious if you have more than a couple choices.

Hi,
we currently get the rating from themoviedb.org and set this in the properties of the file in Mezzmo. We can look into possibly getting the rating from imdb and rottentomatoes and including these also.

Yeah, I'm aware, but the trouble with TMDb is that it has so few ratings -- so, virtually everything comes up as 3 star. :-)
Btw, I got the idea for this when I recently tested Plex, and read about its ability to do what I want re: ratings.
Turns out that it can, but it falls so very far short of Mezzmo in about a dozen (or a hundred) other ways, I'm happily staying with Mezzmo.

I think IMDB and rotten tomatoes api's can be used for non-commercial applications, Plex may have an agreement with them to use their api.
