Every time I attempt to Maintain library there's a system task which appears, namely 'Getting video subtitles',despite the fact I've recently attempted to stop every single internet retrieval ahem....service,due to 99.9% of my videos/films/exerpts etc. now having totally spurious,non-related artwork associated with them, thanks to Mezzmo.

I'm in the UK,I speak and read English, most of my media files are in English,so I can't figure out why on earth I'd need ANY subtitles for those files. If I ever require subs I d/l and burn .sub/.srt permanently into the video myself, using preferred size and colour settings etc.

I only want to use Mezzmo (pro, paid for and registered a few years ago....also updated) for video, not remotely interested in using it for music/photos etc. It would also be great if I could only see content on screen that can actually be played on my seemingly aspergers/OCD control freakery TV (Sony Bravia 4k A1 late 2017 model....still no Dolby vision/Atmos of course) which would totally rule out .avi,.flv,.mov etc.,but of course they still insist on reappearing on my TV screen every time the Mezzmo server's started, even though none of them will play.

As previously mentioned,I've tried to turn off all internet related garbage in Mezzmo settings, but guess I must have missed one somewhere along the line.

Sincere apologies,I wasn't as grumpy as this a few years ago,it's happening more and more these days, mainly due to seemingly every item I purchase turning out to be a piece of poorly manufactured, overpriced plastic crud from the far east, not even fit to be in a lucky bag or christmas cracker, which used to be the only times we ever saw such throwaway junk.

In the Library Maintenance dialog there is a checkbox for updating subtitles, you can uncheck this to prevent the system task being run. This task does not go to the Internet but just checks your files to find external or embedded subtitles in the files. If you find files are not playing on your TV then this might mean that transcoding is not turned on or there is some error in accessing the files or transcoding them. You can check the box in the Maintain library dialog to remove files from the library that cannot be found on disk and this will remove files if Mezzmo cannot find them on disk.

If your Sony TV uses Android as an operating system then you can try installing the Mezzmo Android app and this should allow you to play all the formats without transcoding.

Thanks for your response Peter.

I've simply copied or transcoded everything to .mp4 in XMedia Recode and/or Handbrake, and filled a 2TB Buffalo portable drive, which is now connected via usb to the TV,which will now only be connected to the internet as and when I need it for Netflix 4k or Amazon Prime Video.

Briefly installed and had a look at the Mezzmo Android app on TV,but couldn't see it doing anything useful for me......or anything at all in actual fact,so that's now gone into the ether.

All Mezzmo stuff uninstalled from PC for the next 12 months as usual, when I may dust it off and try it yet again if required.
