Good Afternoon

I stumbled across Mezzmo Server whilst trying to find a music server that will work with a Roku with gapless playback. It was going to build a Raspberry Pi and plug into my AV receiver via HDMI but would rather not have to have too many devices on the go.

I use Plex for my other media ie movies and TV but Plex doesn't support gapless playback on a network with any file format. I listen to a lot of Jarre/Oldfield and gapless is a must. They also seem very reluctant to implement it despite repeated requests and reading their forums it is a big issue.. Not Mezzmo's problem but for me it stops me from paying for Plex.

So I have installed Mezzmo and got it to work on my Roku's and have setup a couple of gapless playback files and it works brilliantly. However I don't like the user interface. Is there an addon available that will let me change the skin perhaps.

Hi,
there are currently no addons to change the user interface in Mezzmo, is it the interface of the Roku app or the Mezzmo application on the PC that you don't like?

It's the roku app. PC is fine. Very nicely laid out. I suppose I am used to the layout of plex. The listing by album artists with pictures and then cover art is fine but then you hit play and you get a load of album covers along the bottom and the track information at the top doesn't seem to change. Also whilst the gapless playback feature is good there is no track skip forward or back. I have tried to create a FLAC - CUE file but it only reads the FLAC file not the cue so it is all one track.

I know this sounds really picky and I don't won't to sound critical but FLAC and CUE files are very popular files now due to more space availability on hard drives. I know VLC player can read .cue files so you get the track access and I cant understand why music servers don't have this as a feature. I have tried subsonic, Plex, Logitech and Mezzmo.

I think my only option is a Raspberry PI. Shame....

There is no visible 'now playing' display in the Roku app for music, it just plays in the background - we may add this in the future. FLAC CUE files are on our todo list but we have not gotten to them yet as other features have had higher priority.

Thank you for your reply. That makes things a lot clearer.

I think I'll re visit Mezzmo in the future.
