Keep custom video covers after Maintain Library

I use custom covers for video thumbnails. Is there a way for the maintain library feature to leave the custom covers in place?

It should leave them if you use the "Update missing information" option, but it will overwrite them if you use the "Update all information" one. Which one are you using?
