Grouping in Active Playlist using Sort Title

Hi,
I would like to create an Active Playlist with Keyword Hierarchy of Group by First Letter but grouping them by the 1st letter of the Sort Title. Is this possible?
Currently I work around it by creating one Smart Playlist for each 1st letter (alphabet, numeric, symbols etc).

Hi,
if you set the sort order to sort by sort title then this will use the first letter of the sort title with group by first letter.

A related but trivial question, of the OCD variety:
How do I get the left-hand pane to display alphabetically?
I.e., I know about the various sort options, and those seem to work for the icons in my center pane, but the left pane remains unaffected.
I.e., in the screenshot attached, I want the left pane to be ordered as Movies | Music | Photos | Series

The left-hand pane is sorted by the order in which they were added to Mezzmo so they do not appear in alphabetical order and it is not possible to sort them except by removing them and adding them again.
