Mezzmo kicks a$$ but...

For some unfathomable reason it won't stream MPG files to my Sony SMP-N100. AVI are fine but MPG and any other video that isn't AVI can't been seen on the device. Have tried using the device settings for PS3 and Sonly BR Players but no joy :-(

The files show up fine on my PS3 and play (with the exception of MKV of course) which makes me wonder if it's a problem with the SMP-N100 or the device settings on Mezzmo.

Will happily buy a copy of Mezzmo (day 2 of trial so far) to replace Tversity if this problem gets fixed :-)

I have tried transcoding but that just returns an error (probaly a codec issue)

From that list mpeg is supported (mpeg 1 and mpeg 2), but mpeg 4 is not. It is also important to understand that they whole package is looked at. So if you had a file with mpeg2 video and DTS audio the Sony would reject it. What you should do is open the Mezzmo gui, highlight one of the files you want to play and are having a problem with. Right click and select Get ffmpeg info. Post that report here and hopefully you will be up fast.

This was a MKV file converted to play on PS3 using MKV2VOB.

I chose to force transoding in MKV2VOB to MPEG2 and (apart from the huge file size) it would play on the Sony SMP-N100 when streamed from Mezzmo (Video type now listed as mpegts in FFMpeg Info

AVI files (DIVX) stream fine to the Sony box but not these 'conveted' MKV's. As previously mentioned, they work on a PS3.

So this appears to be a limitation with the box and not Mezzmo!

HOWEVER...

I tried turning on transcoding and that fails for the MKV's :-(

Any idea how I can troubleshoot transcoding?

Yes, but I am a cheap hack at it. lol If you want good results, please wait until support can address it. (It won't be long now).

You'll need to have transcoding turned on of course. We have an updated device profile available for the BDP - please send a message to support (at) conceiva (dot) com and we'll send it out to you. It should give you better results when transcoding, so hopefully will solve this issue.

Also, the MKV2VOB program doesn't always produce 100% compliant files, as far as I know, so even if a PS3 will play it, it doesn't mean that another device will (a more strict device may just reject it).
