AVI Files with embedded Subtitles

Hi, I have a number of AVI files (xvid +AC3 5.1 sound track) which have embedded/forced subtitles enabled. If the files are played back on PC, then the Video and subtitles are in sync, but if the file is played back through my TV (Sony KDL) the sound/video is in sync but the subtitles are about 30 seconds later than they should be. Is there anythink that can be done for this, or should I encode the subtitles to a seperate file?

If the files are being passed through natively (and I assume they are, since you have subtitles), then it's up to the TV to decode and synch them up. Is there an option on the TV to adjust the subtitle timing?

I don't think that Bravia TVs support external subtitles, so if you save them out, then they won't come up.
