    Default AndroidTV App Issue

Ever since the latest update that came out a couple of days ago, the app randomly closes while watching a video. It doesn't do it every video and it doesn't usually do it multiple times during a video, but it just randomly stops back to the interface from the movie. When you go back into the movie, it's not tagged to be resumed. It starts back at the beginning.

We did not make any changes in this area of the app, only the album art for music files on android 10 has been changed. Are the files being played transcoded on the fly?

No. They don't need to be transcoded at all, they're natively supported MP4 files. I've even tried it with my natively supported h.265 MP4s. It appears that the Mezzmo Android app is crashing in some way. It "crashes" out of the movie back to the selection screen where all of the movies are listed. The previous version of the AndroidTV app didn't do this, so whatever is causing it is new, or it just never triggered.

There are only two crashes recorded in the play store developer console and neither of these is in the app video player. Are the mp4 files stored on the android device or are they being streamed from the Mezzmo server on the PC? If they are being streamed from the PC then the problem could be caused by the network or some other issue. As a test could you please try going to settings in the app then uncheck the box to use the internal video player and try playing a video where the problem occurs and then select a different video player app when prompted to play the video to see if the problem occurs. if you do not have any other video players installed try installing VLC or MX Video player.

They are being streamed from a PC, which is connected to a NAS, which is the same configuration that I have been running for approximately four years.

The Roku app does not have this problem. Nor did this problem occur on AndroidTV prior to the most recent upgrade. I've been watching movies all morning on the Roku Mezzmo app. Not a single blip. I will test a stand-alone app today, but I have a feeling that I know what is going to happen.

    Update.....

So far I am two 4k movies into my test using VLC on the AndroidTV device with no app "crashes".

    Update.....

Played two more movies and part way through a third with VLC. Still no "crash". The Mezzmo app would have "crashed" by now based on historical performance after the update.

I will test it today. Is there any way we can get changlogs for updates to the app? For whatever reason, the Play Store on AndroidTV seems to cut out the updates from the description.
