Thread: Can see filters but not files from Humax HDR FOX-T2

  1. #1

Default Can see filters but not files from Humax HDR FOX-T2

I've installed the trial version and added music, photos and videos when logged on as admin. It recognised the Humax and the media device settings were automatically set to "Humax PVR"

I changed the connection to wireless as I am using a wi-fi dongle in the Hummy

    Transcode is set on
On the Humax it saw the HD video files but would not play them (FLV 480x360)

Logged in as myself (normal limited account)
Started Mezzmo using "Run as admin"

Changed device name to Mezzmo-Rob (Restarted mezzmo and Humax)
The Humax only sees Mezzmo (the device name for the admin login)

I added the music files (but not photo or video) however after chuntering away it found all the file types (and put some mp3s iunder video?)

I tried to access files from the Humax but it wouldn't see them. It can see the filters (e.g. All, Artist, Genre..) but it does not find any files; music, photo or video

    Why can't I see anything?

Also in Mezzmo the icon for the HD FLV files is the VLC icon not a picture. Other downloads (320x240) show as a video frame. Why the difference

Default Slight improvement but still lots of problems

I start up today and now FLV videos and mp3s are showing but not FLAC or WMA.

The FLVs do not play when clicked on (transcode is on)

I turned transcode off and tried, they still do not play the first time but do the second as long as I have tried to play a different file in between the two attempts (which also fails)

I then set Mezzmo to always deliver all types of file but they still do not appear on the Humax.

Having logged in to the PC as admin I see that the Media server name changed to what I set it as when I logged on as myself but ran it with admin privileges (XP). I can sort of understand that but the literature says you can have multiple media servers running one for each login. But if you have to run as admin you can only ever one server name (or does it assume that normal people have admin rights - I hope not)?

However having the admin and my account using the same server name why does my Humax still see two Mezzmo servers (only the one I changed the name to has any actual files, te original one just shows the filtering options such as genre, artist).

On paper Mezzmo looks like it should do what I want, (transcode FLAC & wma) but at the moment it doesn't seem to offer any advantages over WMP11 as a server and is not really a media player (have to right click and select play one file at a time).

I feel I must be doing something fundamentally wrong or misunderstand something but I don't know what.

I think one of the issues with multiple logins is that you tried to run Mezzmo from your normal users as admin, which in effect makes Mezzmo pickup the first, admin, database. If you just run it as your limited user, then it should create a second instance.

Could you also please turn on logging (see this thread: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging) then try playing one of the files on the device and once it fails, stop the server and send the logs to support (at) conceiva (dot) com - we'll investigate and see what's wrong.

I can't run Mezzmo as a normal user unless I run it as admin (XP SP3) so I use "run as" to give it admin privileges. This appears to actually run it as admin rather than admin privileges (since when I changed the device name it also changed for the admin user, also it shows all the items I loaded as admin).

Today when I look at it from the Humax I see both Mezzmo devices "Mezzmo" and "Mezzmo - Rob" even though Mezzmo no longer exists as far as I can tell.

Looking at "Mezzmo" -> Music I can see the top level filters (artist, genre...) but nothing appears below that
Looking at "Mezzmo - Rob" -> Music I can see mp3 files (supported by Humax HDR FOX T2) but no other formats though it lists the other file types that exist on the PC (flac, ogg, mp2, wav & wma)
Looking at "Mezzmo - Rob" -> Video I can't see any files

Unfortunately this means I can't try to run an unsupported file format and provide a log file.

The media server is set to start at windows start-up

Transcode is currently unchecked, gigabit connection (though I use wireless direct to the Humax)
    ===================
Turned transcode on (once when I had it off it found the files and transcoded them anyway but only once) and set to wireless A/G/Y and device profile = Humax PVR (with default settings clicked)
    Manually stopped and started server

No change to any of the above

You'll need to have transcoding turned on, as the only supported files (as per the device profile) are MPEG2/MPEG-TS/MP3/LPCM/JPEG. Please send in the logs of browsing a folder with missing files and and we'll investigate this further. Also, does the device have separate folders for audio/video/images or do you browse the whole server at once and all file types come up at the same time?

    Transcoding is turned on
    Logging enabled
    stop & start server
On Humax, set media to Music
Browsed to Mezzmo - Rob -> Music -> File type -> wma
    No files appeared
    browsed back up two levels
    Logging disabled
    stop & start server
    View logs

    There are two directories
    mezzmo.exe
contains Mezzmo.txt which is zero bytes (opened to confirm it is empty)
    mezzmoMediasServer.exe
    Empty

Repeated the whole exercise but no logs appeared ?

The Humax looking at Mezzmo sees 3 folders (?) Music, Video, Photos

Do you see a file "Logging" in the MezzmoMediaServer.exe folder? If you don't, then logging is turned off. If you do, then you need to restart the server and a MezzmoMediaServer.txt file should appear there as well.

Donloaded 2.1.12.0 today which sorted out the problems of being able to see the various file types and it even transcodes them correctly BUT (there is always a but) some interaction between transcoded music files and the humax causes the humax to hang locking out the remote completely.

Initially the song that just finished appears with the time bar half way through the same song but not playing, buttons on the remote appear to change the song being played but nothing actually happens. I've not had a chance to try logging again yet.

I've also reported this to UKSupport@humax-digital.co.uk as it is not clear where the problem lies.

Since we don't have this device here, all I can do is ask you for Mezzmo logs when that occurs and we'll see what we're delivering and how the device is responding. So, please send in the logs when you get a chance and we'll take a look.
