Default New Devices Not in List

About a week ago I deleted and reinstalled Mezzmo Windows. My USB drive containing my database and transcoded files got disconnected and I didn't know it was the problem. After the reinstallation, I discovered and fixed that problem. Everything worked fine until now. When I boot my PC I get notices that attempts by various devices on my network to connect to the server have been allowed, but the devices never show up in the device list. I am able to play music from the PC server (I haven't tried video, yet) on some devices but not all. Some Android devices on the list can play music from the PC server and some can't. One Android device not shown on the list can also play from the PC server. Every device not on the list that attempts to play, whether or not successful, prompts an "attempt to connect allowed" notification. One Android phone on the list worked for a while and now won't play music from the PC server; it moves from one playlist song to the next without playing any. I tried deleting it from the list hoping I could add it again. It prompts all sorts of "attempt to connect allowed" notifications, but cannot be re-added to the list.

Can you help with this situation?
    Bob

If the devices are not showing up in the device list then it is possible that the database has become corrupted. Try creating a new database in options in Mezzmo to see if the devices appear in the list.

Well, that worked. However, the "Home Movies" playlist is now empty. The files are GoPro and other home videos and are tagged as "Home Movie". However, the "Year" and "Month" keywords in the "Home Movies" playlist appear to key off the "Release Date" property in the file. The Release Date field for almost all of these home videos is now blank, and the videos are not captured by the "Home Movies" playlist. In Windows, the property dialogue for these files contains a "Media created" date in the "Details" tab. A column for "Media created" can be used in File Explorer. Generally, that is the date I want to use as the release date. Is there a way to populate the "Release Date" and "Year" field in the file's Mezzmo properties with a specific date from the file's metadata to avoid manual entry of a "Release Date" for each video?

Mezzmo will use the file's date created for the Release Date. It is not possible to populate the Release Date with a different value from the file's metadata automatically. Mezzmo can read metadata from an xml file if it exists alongside the file and has the same name as the file except for the extension so possibly there is a way to export the release date from the home movies to xml?

I found a utility called MediaInfo that will produce an xml sidecar file for each video. However, the naming convention is odd. For example, GOPR0005.MP4 produces a sidecar named GOPR0005.MP4.mediainfo.xml. It has lots of metadata in it, but no release date. There are, however, an "encoded date" and a "tagged date" which seem to coincide to the "media created" date in the File Explorer>Properties>Details information except the time portion is UTC and always 6 or 7 hours off. I don't care about the time accuracy. I just want to be able sort the videos in the sequence they were shot on the day they were shot. So, I have these questions.

    1. Do I need one sidecar xml for each video file to import data into Mezzmo?
    2. Do I need to rename the xml file? If so, to what? Import doesn't seem to be working so far.
    3. Is there any special mapping that should and can be done to import the "encoded date" or "tagged date" into Mezzmo's "Release date (ascending)"? How is that done?

    Best,
Bob (I tried uploading the xml file, but couldn't get it done.)

Try sorting by Created date instead of release date and this will be the date created of the file.

Sorry for the delay. However, as far as I can tell, the "Home Movies" active playlist only captures videos if they have a "release date" even when sorted by Created date and tagged with "Home Movie." In other words, the active playlist includes "Home movie" videos only when they also have a "Release date."

Home movies are detected based upon the file name style http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?...es#home_movies

I found if I did a "maintain playlist" on the video folder, rather than the Home movie playlist, the files appeared in Home Movies. However, I have a number of GoPro files with a GPnnnnnn.MP4 name format that are not being included in Home Movies even after maintaining the folder. Can you help with that? They won't drag into the Home Movies active playlist.

Maintaining the Home movie playlist will only update the movies contained within the playlist, it will not add movies that are not already in the playlist. Maintaining the video folder will process movies that may be home movies and add the category to them which will put them in the home movies playlist. You can select videos that are not in the home movies playlist and go to properties then add the Home movies category to them so that they will appear in the home movies playlist.
