Unhappy Faulting application MezzmoMediaServer.exe, version 2.1.12.0. Approx every 30 mins..

    Hi,
Like many on the forums, I've been around the block a few times with other products (Twonky, TVersity, PSPMP etc.) before finding Mezzmo as the closest thing to actually working across most devices. I have almost a dozen devices in the house, some work flawlessly, some need tweaking.

I have installed Mezzmo on a WHS (essentially W2K3 SP2), and it has managed to serve and transcode files to my new Sony Bravia TV, and my Archos tablet, and with varying degrees of luck to my Pure Avanti DAB radio (doesn't seem to keep the do not transcode setting on Generic Device 1 profile?). Anyway... My issues so far:

    1. Mp4 (generally H264 vid with AAC or AC3 audio) dont seem to work to XBox360
    2. Network and transcode settings get lost (maybe this is due to crashing though)
    3. MezzmoMediaServer.exe crash every 30 mins or so.

Interestingly - the crashes don't happen when logged in and left logged in. The service runs under the administrator account, and I suspect it has something to do with using a user account profile when not logged in...

Happy to submit logs - but for now - a workaround is to RDP to the server, log in, and disconnect the session (leaving the administrator account logged in). The event log is still recording crashes, but they don't seem so frequent. I have also set the recovery options on the mezzmo service to restart the service 1 minute after it fails.

    Hi,

It would be great if you could send in the logs - that may show the cause of the crash.

Is transcoding turned on for the XBox? Can you please send a separate log when trying to play a failing file on it?

Mezzmo Android: Install it on your tablet, smartphone, Android TV or Amazon Fire to browse and stream files from your Mezzmo library to all your devices. Full details at http://www.conceiva.com/products/mez...mo_android.asp

Xbox profile has transcoding enabled. Seems to struggle with mp4 container and 5.1 Audio. Transcode log is really big - relevant paste below, hth:

Yes, that's a limitation of FFmpeg, unfortunately:

Resampling with input channels greater than 2 unsupported.

    Can not resample 6 channels @ 48000 Hz to 2 channels @ 48000 Hz
So, we cannot recode that file until this is fixed by FFmpeg developers.

We are investigating using another encoder for WMV (this is only relevant for the XBox), so maybe one of the next updates will have better encoding.

Hi Dennis, I thought as much from doing a little digging myself.

    Hi Dennis,
MezzmoMediaServer.exe is still crashing. It didn't do it for a few days, but then it failed quite consistently for a few days again. I have the service set to restart the failed service after 1 minute, so I don't have to keep restarting. I'd like to send the log file - but it is absurdly large - is there a logging level (verbosity) option somewhere?

No, there's no verbosity option as we generally need to see everything going on. If it happens consistently, then maybe you could just switch the server not to restart automatically, then delete the logs, start the server, wait for it to crash and then zip up the logs and send them in. I would expect them to be 100-200 MBs in size, but they compress well.
