Thread: Library not updating

    Default Library not updating

    Hi,

I am currently trailing your software and am considering a purchase. There are however a few niggly things.
First and most important is the updating of the library. I have done the initial "Maintain library" and this has imported all my media files. Video's in my case.
But when I save a new video file the the directory I have initially chosen, Mezzmo does not seem to see it. I have to go into folder and click on the actual video file before it can be discovered in a playlist. I have waited for a few hours but nothing happens, I cannot see it on my TV. Is there something I am doing wrong or is this normal behavior?

Second is the issue I seem to randomly have is the error that comes up saying "Parameter Incorrect". When I click on OK it sometimes goes away with no problems but sometimes Mezzmo completely hangs and I need to forcefully end it. It seems to happen predominantly when scrolling in a playlist.

Third and final issue is when I do another "Maintain Library" it removes my Internet Artwork from the Video's I have setup.

My PC is running Windows 7 64bit, my TV is a Samsung LA40C650. Mezzmo version 2.1.12.0.

Thanks for your assistance in advance.

    Hi,

Did you use the "Add Folder" command to add a directory where you put new video to? If you did, then that folder should be refreshed each time you access it (using Mezzmo GUI or a device) and files updated/added as needed. If you used any other way to add that folder (e.g. "Scan Folder", "Add Files"), then it will not happen automatically.

The "parameter incorrect" issue is very interesting - is there a way to consistently reproduce it? Do you scroll large playlists or small playlists when that happens? Do you use your mouse or the keyboard?

With the "Maintain Library" replacing thumbnails - please check that you have "Update only missing information" selected and not the "Update all information" and that should take care of it.

    Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the reply. I have used "Setup your Mezzmo library" to add the folders to the library.

I have played around a bit and I can recreate the issue, it seems to happen when I go into File Type - mkv, and only when the view is set to details.

I have used the "Update All information" so that probably the reason why.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

If you hit F5 to refresh the view, does it update? There's currently a known issue that sometimes the details view doesn't update after Maintenance. The data is all there, but it's just the view that's not updated.

    Hi Dennis,

I have purchased the software in the mean time.

I still have the issue with the library not updating automatically. When a file is placed in the folder that I have added to the library via the "Setup your Mezzmo library".
It only shows on the tv when I start up Mezzmo go via Library > Video > Folders and open the folder the new video file is in. After I have done that it appears on the tv.

Also still have the "Parameter Incorrect" when opening the mkv playlist.

    I am currently on 2.1.13.

Apart from these 2 niggly issues I really like it.

    Hi,

Yes, that's how it works - you need to go to that folder before a file appears. The other way is to have scheduled maintenance that will update your library once a day and add those files in.

Can you please send in a screenshot of the "Parameter Incorrect" error? I'd really like to replicate and fix it here.

    Hi Dennis,

On your website under FAQ I have read the following information

"I continually download new music, TV shows, and movies. Do I have to add these files into Mezzmo manually every time?"

"No. The best thing to do is use add a folder into Mezzmo where you save the files on your computer. Mezzmo reads this folder dynamically, so if there are any new files in the folder, then they are added into your Mezzmo library and can be streamed immediately. Also, if you delete or change files in this folder, Mezzmo updates your Mezzmo library appropriately."

This does not specify I would have to setup a scheduled job to inventory new media files...

When I get home I will send you a screenshot of the error message.

    Thanks,
    Ivo

Thanks for the pointing that out - that description is missing an explanation that this happens during maintenance or when you browse that folder (using a device or GUI).

    Hi Dennis,

Thanks, I will give it a go with browsing to the folders with my TV.
