Question Playlist permissions and Windows Media Player 12

    Hi,

I cant figure out playlist permissons together with WMP 12 running on a Windows 7 computer. Even if I deny all clients access to some playslist, the videos still shows up in WMP 12. It works ok with my Philips TV, so I wonder what could be wrong with WMP 12?

    Regards,
    Roar

    Hi Roar,

Yes, that's a known issue - it should be fixed in the next minor update.

Mezzmo Android: Install it on your tablet, smartphone, Android TV or Amazon Fire to browse and stream files from your Mezzmo library to all your devices. Full details at http://www.conceiva.com/products/mez...mo_android.asp
Mezzmo for Kodi Add-on: Install it into Kodi to stream files from your Mezzmo library directly in Kodi. Full details at http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?...odi_user_guide
Mezzmo for Roku App: Install it onto your Roku to stream files from your Mezzmo library. Full details at http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?...oku_user_guide

Has this problem ever been fixed? I'm currently evaluating Mezzmo and love it because I can play .wtv files directly on my Samsung BDP without having to convert the file to another format first -- the "on the fly" transcoding works wonderfully!

That being said, the permissions are not working at all with computers on the network. The BDP responds to all allow/deny settings, but any computer on the network (all Win 7) can still see everything in Windows Media Player.

I've set the top level to deny and applied it to all sublists so I know I'm starting out correctly. The only way for WMP to not see the videos is for me to literally remove everything from the library permanently. As soon as I add anything back in I can see everything in WMC on all computers that have been allowed access to the media server.

Hopefully I'm just completely doing something wrong. Otherwise I love the program and would like to get it while it's still 50% off!

    Thanks!

You are not doing anything wrong. Window Media Player is a strange DLNA client since it requests special hardcoded playlists that Mezzmo server does deliver back to it so that it works with Windows Media Player. These special playlists are not directly represented in your Mezzmo library as a playlist or folder so that's why it is bypassing any playlist permissions settings.

If you want to deny computers on your home network accessing your Mezzmo library, then the easiest way is to do this in the Media Devices dialog. For any device that is listed there, you can select it and click the "Deny" button and Mezzmo will not allow it to access your Mezzmo library.

Another way to do this is once all the devices you want to access your Mezzmo library are listed in the Media Devices dialog, then stop your Mezzmo server and delete any devices form the list you don't want. Then, uncheck the "All all new devices to connect to Mezzmo" checkbox. then start your Mezzmo server again. This configuration will stop any new device from being allowed to access your Mezzmo library, but allow your preferred devices to access it.

Hopefully this helps what you want to do.
