Thread: Organising files

  1. #1

    Default Organising files

I've got Mezzmo up and running and connected to my Samsung LE37C650 - so far so good. It plays alot of content that other media servers didn't - so that's great.

However, I'm getting nowhere fast trying to organise my files.

For instance, on Mezzmo under Library\Music I just have a single folder containing subfolders each containing a full album.

On the TV I'd just like to select Music and see the list of Albums - but I get loads of different folders and playlists and can't for the life of me find any of the music files that I've loaded on the PC.

Similar story on Videos and Photos.

Can anyone offer any advice, or links to other posts on how to sort the mess out?

    Thanks

Did you create that Music folder or is it the one that was there by default? If it's the one that was there and you're using v2.1.12 and "Samsung C" device profile, then the TV should take you to the root of that Music folder (so you should then see just the one subfolder that you have). Can you please post a screenshot of your Mezzmo's folder tree, so that I could understand how things are organized at the moment better?

I initially went with the default folder structure, but couldn't get that to work so I deleted everything and started from scratch.

Now I just have a single playlist for Music. Within that I've got a single folder location where the music files I want to use are located. At the moment there is only 3 albums in there.

I've also created an Active playlist to sort by artist and then album.

But as you can see from the attached there are loads of items in the active playlist that aren't within the folder structure I've added.

What's on the TV also looks completely different - I can't find Artist Index or Folder View.

Just went to check the TV again - Music section still in a mess. But looked at the Video section, it has a single Music folder and it has the Artist Index and Folder View inside there.

Here's what the music section on the TV looks like. If I go to the Music folder it has a similar mess inside it.

As per the above, video section is showing pretty much what the music section should - although ideally I don't want to go into the Music section and then have to select Music - want it to go straight to the Artist Index.

    Thanks

Ok, so the music root folder doesn't look like the default one, thus the TV won't go to it automatically (the default one had a music note icon in it). I assume you've deleted the default folders and then started to add your own, right?

If you want, maybe you could try deleting the database and then starting again, but this time don't delete the root folders (Music/Video/Photos), because they have special meaning to Mezzmo.

Yes I figured starting from scratch might be a better idea. Have done this and everything appears to be organised now - thanks

It's pretty much working how I want it now - but one annoyance...

I'm using the Artist>Album active playlist to organise the music. All tracks are sorted as expected, but if I click on the root of the playlist, in addition to all the artists - ALL the music files in the library are listed. How do I prevent them showing here?

I should say that "Don't list files in the top-level playlist for active playlists on connected devices" is checked - but doesn't seem to have an affect.

That only applies when your browse the folder on the device - it doesn't apply to GUI. We'll be extending this to the GUI as well in a future version.
