    Hi,

It's possible that the file doesn't play because of the frame rate. Can you please post FFmpeg info on some other files that don't play to see if they share the same frame rate.

Is there a frame rate problem with the two Alien mkv files below?

Possibly yes. At least looking at FFmpeg info it appears so. It's also possible that the video stream is encoded with some settings that are incompatible with the TV's player. Can you please also post MediaInfo on one of those, as that may show more.

Sorry for late reply Dennis been busy with family. The other files I had issues with I found out that they were the wrong level so remuxed them at Level 4.1 and they worked. This file is the only one I now have that wont play. I have tried everything to get it too work but nothing changes it. I have read up on the framerate error ffmeg throws up and it seems to be quite common and may be the issue. It seems to be setting the container framerate at the refresh rate the TV would be at to display the framerate so its an FPS for fields were as the stream is the progressive fps of 23.98. Its really odd as it does play via USB, also I did find someone complaining about it on ffmpeg site. The TV I have is Samsung C650.

Yes, the framerate would be my first guess. I would try recoding it manually, copying the video and audio streams and changing the container frame rate. If that doesn't help, try recoding it fully and see if that gets it going. Let me know if you need help on FFmpeg commands to do that.

I have tried everything I can, I cannot change the container framerate at all. I have demuxed it using TSMUXER and changed fps to 23.976 and then remuxed using MKVMerge still no good. I have demuxed using MKVextract and remuxed using MKVMerge and changing framerate. I have tried changing audio to DD rather than DTS still no joy. I dont want to have to reencode the file as I will loose quality. How else can I get the container to be the correct 23.976 framerate. Also why does the transcoder not work for this file or is that related to FFMPEG and the framerate?

Are you sure it is the framerate Dennis as I have seen people post on here with files with the same framerate for container and different for stream and they have played, although some have been having the stopping bug.

Thinking about this some more, perhaps you cannot change the frame rate without a full re-encode. The frame rate is device-dependent of course, so no, I'm not really sure and the only way for me to be sure is to try the file here. I'll see if I can find a similar file to test.

Mezzmo's transcoder doesn't kick in because at the moment we don't process frame rates. This is a planned feature.
