Default Noob question on Samsung LE40B65 aspect ratio

    Hi there,
First post so be gentle-not sure why I've never seen or heard of this software as I've been dablling with the likes of Serviio, PS3MS, TVersity for years :-) LIke the look of it but the one thing that really got me excited was the aspect ratio part.
I have 2 Sammys and a Sony. With my current software (PS3MS) , I find it really frustrating that the Sony will "fill the screen" with whatever film I try to watch, regardless of the format/size it was recorded it. The Sammys, however, end up with a box picture, with black bars at the side, something like a distorted 4:3 ratio. Its really frustrating-I know there is some hacked firmware to fix this but to be honest, I dont mind bricking a $20 router but I do mind a $800 TV!
So I've been playing with Mezzmo, and in particular the aspect ratio, but I still cant fill the screen. I thought that this was the point of this feature-or have I got it wrong?
Anybody have a similar TV or experience of this? If I can get it working, then I'll gladly buy the software :-)

    cheers

    Hi,

Can you please tell me which device profile you're using and also post FFmpeg information on one of the movies with the wrong aspect ratio, so that I could see what's happening?

Mezzmo Android: Install it on your tablet, smartphone, Android TV or Amazon Fire to browse and stream files from your Mezzmo library to all your devices. Full details at http://www.conceiva.com/products/mez...mo_android.asp
Mezzmo for Kodi Add-on: Install it into Kodi to stream files from your Mezzmo library directly in Kodi. Full details at http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?...odi_user_guide
Mezzmo for Roku App: Install it onto your Roku to stream files from your Mezzmo library. Full details at http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?...oku_user_guide

Looks like that file should be passed through natively without transcoding. Do you have a zoom setting on the TV (perhaps in the Tools menu) - what is that set to? Also, please post FFmpeg information on the file (in Mezzmo right-click on the file and use the "Get FFmpeg Information" command), as that's the only way for me to see the file the way Mezzmo sees it.

Sorry about the confusion-here you go. On the Zoom front, the Samsungs are a bit of a pain in that they have only 2 modes-Fit and Original. When I use Fit, it wont Zoom or stretch-it expands it but only to a bigger square-unlike the Sony which will fill the screen.I dont doubt the Sony is better than the Samsung at this, hence why Mezzmo seems very attractive to me, to get over the Samsung limitation :-)

Yes, that file should go through natively. If can, please send it to support (at) conceiva (dot) com and we'll try it here on our Samsung TV and BDP to see what it looks like.
