    Default Some .mkv's not playing????

i'm still evaluating mezzmo and thus far i like it very much. just have one issue thus far. i only have a handful of bluray .mkv rips thus far and for whatever reason only ~%50 of them will play while streaming to my ps3. i've read a few threads here on the forum regarding this issue but have seen no solutions offered yet. any help would be appreciated. i only have 8 or so days left on my eval and would like to know if this will work or not before i purchase the full version. for whatever reason, when trying to stream them with ps3 media server, they worked fine. but, ps3 media server lacks some of the features of mezzmo and is not what i want to use.

also, i'm very new to the whole bluray rip scene and still trying to get my bearings. whate are the benefits, if any, of using a .mkv container? should i use something else, format wise? am i giving up any quality when using .mkv? i think a tutorial/some suggested backup software, etc. might be good for people like me just getting started with hd backups. backing up a SD DVD is no biggie, as i've always just keep that as a .vob file. converting to .mkv is a whole new ballgame for me. some tutorials might eliminate some of these questions you have to deal with on a day to day..........just a thought.

here is the ffmpeg info of one of the problem files.

Tutorials are a great idea. Also, hopefully users on this forum who regularly rip Blurays can also share their knowledge.

I've found a majority of the time, running the .MKV file thru MKVmerge, makes it playable again, for some reason or another

Well, it's now the 28th of this month and I still can't play some of my .MKV files as well as a problematic .vob file that i've tried ripping a few times. It throws up some network error, however my other .vobs will play fine. I've been in contact with a fella named Adric through email for a while. After his many suggestions it's still a no go. I think i'm going to look very hard and see what other options are out there. I just don't feel like this will be resolved.

I've checked the VOB file issue in support and it appears the generated file is 0 bytes in length. That would suggest that transcoding was attempted, but failed (not sure though why the invalid file is left behind). If you wish, I can try to help you further to get this solved. I'll reply to you via e-mail as well.
