    Default Mezzmo renames movies

All of my home movie file names start with a number. The oldest is number one, the most recent is 27. Mezzmo seems to rename them arbitrarily. It retains some ID numbers, buries others inside the file name, and, in one case, completely lost movie number 27. It appears in the recently-added list, but not in the list of all movies.

Needless to say, the sequence of these movies is very important to me. They also happen to have been copied from iTunes to a special directory in the order of their creation date (not necessarily the date they came into my possession.) I cannot explain why they got screwed up by Messmo. There was no change in the actual files names on my PC.

Mezzmo will always attempt to get the meta data from movies (and music and photos) that you add into your Mezzmo library. It uses the meta data to set attributes such as title, artist, album, year, etc. And these attributes are used in the playlists in Mezzmo. I can only guess that perhaps you have meta data in some of your video files (and not in others) and Mezzmo is grabbing the meta data to set the title? If no meta data is found in a file, then the video file's filename (minus the file extension) is used as the default title for the video.

If you need further help or explanation, contact us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com. We may need to look into a few of the video files to work out exactly what is happening.

Ridiculous. There is no meta data! These are home movies of my grandchildren. Mezzmo has totally failed during my trial period.

By the way, not only did it put absurd names on most of my 27 movies. it created another set of ten or so with yet different names! Adios Messmo. Serviio is much better, even if it does drop connections about as often as Messmo. At least it doesn't screw up home movies.

Sorry you feel that way and that Mezzmo did not work as you wanted it to. As mentioned, we are happy to look into this further and fix any problems that you found. In our tests with many different types of video files, we have not seen these problems and other users have not reported it to us previously. To fix this problem, we would need one of your home movies so we can see the problem you are getting. Please contact us any time if you would like us to find out what is going wrong.
