Thread: BDP-570 issues

    Default BDP-570 issues

I have just updated to 2.2.

All of our video files are showing up as .m2ts, which I suppose is what it likes as a format. Mezzmo is trying to re-encode our recorded tv files, from Win 7 media center. They are mpeg 2 files .wtv, cant the player support files .mpg?? Or do they have to be re-encoded?

Same goes for our home videos, I have re-encoded them from .mts to .mpg so they can be played on our media center extenders. They are also showing up in the library as .m2ts files. Is this correct? Again it seems they should be showing up at .mpg since they are plain ole mpeg 2 video. I have other issues but I want to start here.

The BDP supports MPEG2, but not in an WTV container, thus they'll need to be recoded (or rather, they should be remuxed, which is much quicker). For your home videos, can you please post FFmpeg information on one of those or send one to support (at) conceiva (dot) com (or via a site like www.megaupload.com) and we'll take a look.

    Dennis,

Thanks for the quick response. So for the recorded tv, our HD stuff just plays in a constant loop, about 2 seconds and start over, meanwhile the cpu is pegged trying to transcode. I have a Win 7, 64bit. Intel QX6700 quad core with 4 gig of ram and 2 10,000 rpm raptors in a raid 0 config. Shouldnt this pc be able to handle this or not?

They will play on the bluray player, cpu load is near zero so I would say no transcoding. So to be clear, they should show up as .mt2s?

And as for our TV from the other thread. Any idea why those home videos will not play on the tv???

I really just want to use the tv, it is a pain having to switch from tv to bluray player when we want to watch a video, movie or recorded tv show, gets too confusing.

Which device profile are you using for the BDP (as per the Media Devices dialog)? That file should play fine on both the TV and the BDP, however the bitrate is quite high, so it may not be decoded on the device properly (or if you have a wireless network, it may not be able to handle the bandwidth). Would it be possible for you to send it to us, so that we could try it here?

    BDP Profile:
    Sony BDP (Ntsc, No Divx)

I really dont think it is a bitrate issue, our network is wired, we stream Bluray rips with no problems. Those files play just fine on the tv as long as the video is H264--no transcoding. For some reason on the tv those home video files are showing up as AVC and when I try to play them it either says not supported, or trys to play a second or two, starts stuttering--I check my computer and cpu is pegged--looks like it is forcing a transcode when I try to play them on the tv. Yet on the bdp they play fine, cpu near zero. I just watched several to be sure.

I can send you one of the shorter home videos. Uploading now as requested above.

Thanks for the file. Can you please send a message to support (at) conceiva (dot) com and I'll send out an updated device profile for the TV that should play such files properly.
