Thread: Local titles from mymovies.xml

    Question Local titles from mymovies.xml

    Hey there,

I got my movie collection quite well organized now, though still have a big problem. All the movie info is collected by My Movie Collection Management and stored in the mymovies.xml files (each movie is in its own folder). So far so well. However, when Mezzo imports the file it seems to read the original title of a movie, not the local one (tag <LocalTitle>). This seems odd as all the info is there. Now I ended up with all english movie titles, though would really like to see them in my language. Also, this prevents moviesheets (as used in the WDLXTV client) to show up because file names do not match the movie title. Any idea how to fix this?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hey Mike,

If you have <OriginalTitle>, then Mezzmo will give preference to that, instead of <LocalTitle> - we'll need to work out how to best handle this, as I'm not sure which one should be picked if all are present (there's also <SortTitle>).

    Hey Dennis,

why not let the user decide? Should be trivial to implement but adds quite a lot worth for that little effort. But actually I'm very surprised about the reasoning behind the decision to prefer the original title. When I buy a disc in my language and whatch the movie in my language I obviously want to see its title in my language. Very often I don't even know the original title so it doesn't tell me anything when I see it in my media player.

Anyway, there we are now and I need to solve the problem I have. I surely don't want to go through hundreds of xml files and remove the OriginalTitle tag, but I need local titles, otherwise nobody in the family knows what a video is about (most of the time) and movie sheets (fan art) don't work either as they are based on file names. Do you have any other suggestion to fix this, even if that means to temporarily patch something (I'm a software dev myself, so I don't care to do that kind of work).

    Thanks, Mike

    Hey Dennis,

over the weekend I set up my new WHS and installed the latest version of Mezzmo and voilá, local titles work now. This is excellent! I'm so thankful for this.

    Good job!
