    Post Viera THP58VT20A MP4/MKV problem

    Help!!!

I have recently brought Mezzmo after many trials of other DLNA software and was very happy with its performance. All was going great with no noticeable issues on my Panasonic Viera THP58VT20A. I updated to the latest release 2.2.0.0 and now having issues with some MKV and MP4 files(not all) that had previously played. I suspect it is something to do with transcoding as the files work with no problem streaming on a WDTV Live box I have on a different TV, but will leave that to the experts if they can figure it out. I have attached an mp4 error of logging files for support.

    hope you can rectify

Looking at the logs, it appears that transcoded file is only around 5MBs in size, so I suspect that transcoding either previously failed or was somehow stopped in a way that didn't remove the invalid file. Please delete this file:

    F:\Mezzmo Transcoded Files\893CE920-D0DC-4daf-B8C3-548E7B920435\Video\22912-mpegts-libx264-ac3.mzt

and then try to play it (StarWars) again. If it still doesn't play, then delete that file again, turn on logging and try to play it again, after it fails, please stop the server and send in new logs to support (at) conceiva (dot) com (or post here) - I'll need to see the transcoding log to see what's happening.

    Dennis,

Thanks for the quick reply, I did as instructed (see attached logs, the log file 2011-03-21-21-18-16-MezzmoMediaService, I could not include as it was 365Mb in size not sure if this is normal, seems large!, zipped to 21Mb).

When I started the movie again it played approx 2 secs and paused with the Viera asking to 'Please Wait' and then eventually displaying message 'Can not read file' and freezing(not returning to the library display) had to return to library view using remote

    Thanks for the new log.

Transcoding speed is really, really slow. What sort of CPU do you have? There isn't enough data being generated for smooth playback.

Also, for the device at .65 you have set network bandwidth at around 60% - this will further slow down transcoding. I'd recommend resetting all those values back to defaults then trying again.

CPU I am running is AMD 3.2ghz. Have been doing some testing and yes the CPU is maxed at 100% when playing the file or any large file so I guess the PC just cant handle it. I use serviio as a back up and it does play the file ok but it is too at 100% CPU. You recommend Quad core for 780p and above?

I dont understand the comment above to adjust the network bandwidth, can you explain how?

    thanks for your help

Yes, a quad-core is highly recommended for real-time transcoding of 720p and higher videos.

Regarding network bandwidth - go to Media Devices dialog, double-click on the device at 192.168.0.65 and then change "Connection" to "Gigabit Ethernet Cable", then go to Performance tab and click the "Default Settings" button. After that click OK to apply the settings.
