Default Mezzmo, Samsung DB C-5500, Video Formats - Prospective New User

I rip my DVDs to a USB HD in native VOB format. My experience so far has shown that my Samsung BD C-5500 can't read these videos from the media servers I've tried. Is it possible to get that player to read "DVD on HD" format with Mezzmo? If not, what video format would work and allow the C-5500 to FF, Pause and RW videos played from Mezzmo?

So far no luck playing anything at all from the Samsung BD thru Mezzmo. It either disconnects or says file not supported. It looks like Mezzmo itself can't even recognize a ripped DVD on HD.

What video file format are other BD c-5500 users using?

UPDATE: I made some progress and was able to get automatic transcoding working. The c-5500 initially reports "unsupported format" but then playing starts a few seconds later. DVD menus don't work and I have to play individual VOB files or the VIDEO_TS file. Playing the VIDEO_TS file plays each related VOB file in order but there's a lag going from file to file. Also on the more complex DVDs the VIDEO_TS file includes several sequences of VOB files so finding the right one is difficult. Pause works but FF/RW is limited to 10 second "jumps". I guess still need to find the right file format...

Yes, Mezzmo will interpret those VOB files as individual movies, not as a whole DVD, thus you won't get menu and you won't be able to play them smoothly one after another. It's best to rip your DVDs into an MKV or an AVCHD format - that'll produce one file, albeit you still won't have menus.

Skipping is limited by Samsung's firmware, so there's no way for Mezzmo to change that - some Samsung devices skip a bit more at a time, some skip less.
