Default Any plans for work on Sony Cinavia protected Blu-Ray

Probably not much of a concern for Conceiva, but is there any real plan in place for finding a way to serve up Cinavia protected Blu-Ray media rips to Cinavia enabled players like the PS3?

If those need to be transcoded, then probably copy protection will not let us transcode it properly. If they can be served natively, then that could work.

If you have such a file, can you please post FFmpeg information on it?

Thanks for the info - looking at it, the file should be passed through to the PS3, does the PS3 reject it?

You could try commenting out the "avi" container in the device profile to force transcoding it and see if that plays. Please let me know if you need help in doing this.

The files don't play correctly, natively or streamed. Actually, the first 20 minutes play fine. At the 20 minute mark, the audio is automatically muted and a message pops up on screen saying that the video is protected by Cinavia. It only does this with a handful of DVD/BR in combination with certain playback devices (i.e. PS3 being one). The actual disc plays fine when inserted into the playback device, but any rips are rendered useless after 20 minutes. The copy protection is built in to the audio track.

It's probably something that will have to be "fixed" by Slysoft or DVDFab. DVDFab has broken it, but only if the ripped file is burned back to an AVCHD file and played back locally.

More just a note, than anything. People with large libraries and PS3s as playback devices should probably check the DVD/BR cases for the Cinavia mark since they will only be able to watch the original disc. If you have a PS3 and haven't updated to firmware 3.10 or higher, then you probably should avoid the updates till this is figured out. Here's a link to discs and players that are confirmed to have this and will therefore be unplayable in streaming video libraries:

Yes, in this case there's nothing Mezzmo/FFmpeg can do - ripping software will need to remove copy-protection in order for FFmpeg to transcode the file (or for Mezzmo to stream it natively).
