Thread: tracks in playlist hierarchies

    Default tracks in playlist hierarchies

    Dear developers,

I have evaluated Mezzmo few days and I found it more flexible than TwonkyMedia, for instance. The best product can still be made better. Here's my suggestion regarding one aspect I found a bit better in a competetive product.

I have Active Playlist (root node) with hierarchy:
    1. Genre (subnode)
    2. Album (leaf-node)

While I browse through hierarchical playlist I see genres in top level. Opening a genre opens a list of albums with tracks under each album (album as a subtitle in list). This style makes second level listing (Albums) lengthy and cluttered.

I prefer the style where opening an item in second level listing brings me a listing of tracks of selected item.

I suggest you add a checkbox -style option to Active Playlist properties saying something like "Show tracks under leaf-node only" or "Open the list of tracks as separate playlist". You may come up with better name of the control...

My experience is based on tests made with 2Player on Huawei U8800 phone.

    Kind regards,
    Olli-Pekka Isola

    Thank you for the suggestion.

To make sure I understand it properly - this would make the tracks appear only under their respective albums, but not all together under the genres list, right?

    Hi Dennis,

I think you got it right. As I am not native english speaking person I will repeat it another words.

If the option has been impletement the system shoud work as explained below:
    1. User opens playlist from root level list (no tracks in this level)
    2. User picks genre from the list of genres (no tracks in this level)
    3. User picks album from the list of albums (no tracks in this level)
    4. User gets a list of tracks belonging to the selected album

I appreciate that you consider this wish.

    Kind regards,
    Olli-Pekka Isola

    Hi Dennis,

I was pleased to notice that the recent version of Mezzmo includes this feature although I found it from General Options with name "Only list files at lowest level for active playlists". I really appreciate that you valued the feedback and the wish went through the development cycle!

    Keep going!

    Kind regards,
