    Default Automatic Proxy URL

    Hi,
I downloaded the software and from the look of things its suited to do wonders. My problem is that I cannot download anything, I connect to the internet via an automatic proxy URL and I don't see any place for inputting that URL to enable the software to communicate with the internet.

Any assistance will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks

In the DownloadStudio options dialog you can setup your proxy details. This will allow downloadstudio to communicate with the internet

    To do this,
    • Go to the tools menu
    • Select the 'options...' menu item.
    • Under 'Connections' there are option pages for http and ftp settings.
    • Enter your proxy details in here.
Conceiva. Download it with DownloadStudio. Stream it with Mezzmo.

    Thanks Brent,
My issue is that my network has something called an Automatic Proxy URL.
    Example: http://proxy.kelelemingi.org/proxydef.pac

Thats the URL we use for connecting everything to the internet.
How can I use that on the software?

    Hi chucho,

The current version of DownloadStudio does not support PAC files. These are text files that contain script for web browsers (and download managers) to choose a proxy server dynamically. We will certainly consider it for a future version.

For the moment, I recommend you try this to get up and running: Download/view the PAC file using your web browser (i.e. enter "http://proxy.kelelemingi.org/proxydef.pac" into your web browser and see if you can view its contents). As mentioned, its a text file that contains some URLs and script. You may be able to see a http:// URL in the file contents and this is most likely the proxy server URL that you are using in your organization. It will probably look like: "PROXY proxy.example.com:8080; DIRECT". Copy this URL (e.g. proxy.example.com) and the port (e.g. 8080) and then paste them into the into DownloadStudio's Options dialog (as Brent mentioned). That may work for you. If it does not, email us at support[at]conceiva.com the contents of the PAC file and we'll see if we can help you further.

    Best regards,

    Paul.
