Default Metadata Help - Batch Reset of Metadata? - Import Metadata Info?

First, great software! Second, I've looked for the answer to these questions, but can't find answers. Third, thanks in advance for any help!

Finally, here's my problem. I installed Mezzmo and added several folders. I have my movies broken into folders by category. All of the movies in my Science Fiction folder were tagged in Mezzmo as an Outer Limits episode that I don't even have. All of the movies in my Comedy folder were tagged by Mezzmo as a Pettycoat Junction episode that I don't have. I'd rather not have to go file by file to remove and correct the incorrect metadata.

    1) Is there a way to do a batch reset of metadata on several files?
    2) Is there a way to add metadata to files as a batch or group?
    3) Is there a metadata scraper whose results/data can be imported into Mezzmo?

    Again, thanks for any help.

You could select all those episodes in Mezzmo, then right-click, Properties and change the properties for all selected items. This will not write the tags into the files themselves, but will store them in Mezzmo's database.

I'm not sure though that I completely understand what you mean by "tagged in Mezzmo as an episode" - can you please tell me what you meant? Do you mean that they share the same thumbnail?

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried selecting several files, right clicking on properties, and then changing the properties. That changed the properties across all of the selected files, which works great for a batch reset!

I figured out the metadata problem at the same time. I had an old xml file for the shows I mentioned and jpg image in my movie folders. These were apparently remnants from another database program I tried out a couple of years ago. The xml file and jpg were being read by Mezzmo and applied to all of the movies in the folder so that all the movies had the same properties. I deleted the xml file and the jpg from the folder and then ran the maintain library tool in Mezzmo (after batch deleting the properties data) and that took care of my incorrect metadata problem.

Thanks again for your help. Do you know if there is any way to automatically add metadata to Mezzmo's database (e.g., scraping from IMDB) instead of manually adding it for each file?

I'm glad you sorted it out.

Mezzmo will read-in mymovies.xml and/or series.xml and use metadata from those files (as you've discovered). It doesn't get it directly from IMDB though, but perhaps it could a future feature.

+1 to fecthing data from the web improving mezzmo a lot when it comes to streaming of movies.
Things like xbmc, mediaportal can fetch from the internet.

Can add genre filters for movies. (file per file genre adding is a nono)
Can add imdb rating as a sort method.

Thats how we do it on mediaportal if we cant make up our mind we pick a genre and/or a high imdb rated one. (Mezzmo rating is a nono for movies yet to see)

Imho when it comes to user comfort* this is a premium feature.

Comfort as in : no file per file manual editing required to make it work.
Comfort as in : Sit back in your chair, think of wich mood your in and just choose the genre your up for.

    So its double usefull!
For me entertainment starts when I hit my chair, not after scrolling down through tons of files not kowing what is what.

And basicly most people look at 'usability' and comfort in the first place, what better advertisement can u have then people watching at properly configured systems thinking : thats what i want!
