Thread: Samsung BD-D8900M

    Default Samsung BD-D8900M

I hope someone can advise me on this problem

I have the above blu ray HDD unit. Currently I am using Samsungs AllShare software, its not bad and plays all files, (even ones that TVersity cannot). There is a problem with Mezzmo however. I have some video files around 45 mins long, and I have played some random files, but the time of the files displayed on them was (for example) 4 secs or 12 secs or something like that. What can I do about this? Does it have something to do with the "Device Profile"?

Possibly those files are being transcoded and thus display incorrect time (it should display proper time once a file has finished transcoding).

Can you please post FFmpeg information on one of those files (in Mezzmo right-click on the file and use the "Get FFmpeg Information" command).

Dennis, i do not think the files need to be transcoded, they are just .avi
The data you asked for is below. I have been looking at the device settings and "Samsung D" seems to have fixed the issue. The files display the correct length of time and the file size

Yes, those files should play natively. I thought you were already using the "Samsung D" device profile. If you weren't, what was your player recognized by Mezzmo as (what device profile were you using)?

wow, quick response. My samsung was recognised as Unknown Device and Generic Device 1, same as my xbox 360 (not tested this yet). Do you think Samsung D profile is the correct one to use, I have not looked at the others yet?

Yes, try using "Samsung D" and see how that works out.

So, i've been playing videos on this device for a day now and it works great. I think I will be purchasing Mezzmo in the future. Does anyone else here have this Samsung BD-D8900M?

I have a query regarding music album artwork. Artwork does display on the PC software and on the device while NOT in play mode and just viewing songs. When you play the songs however atwork is not displayed, (after a few minutes a screensaver comes on that displays the song and artist and a default cover of a sheet music note. I suspect that my device does not display album covers. Is there any way to find out?
Also, when I view my music by artist on the software is there any way to display the songs by song number instead of alphabet order?

I haven't seen the D8900M personally, so not sure if it should display artwork while playing. If you use Samsung's software (if you tried it), does that display album art while playing?

We'll be adding more sorting options to more playlists in a future version, but currently you can see songs by song number if you go through the Artist - Album active playlist (album playlists should have their songs listed by track order).

I was using Samsungs Allshare software from their web site, it did not display artwork covers at all, (just video thumbnails) I have uninstalled it and I am solely using Mezzmo. Windows own media server (windows media player) also does not display artwork. Mezzmo does display artwork, but not while playing, and somethimes it wont display artwork for a few files, then when you exit the folder and go back in, it does

Then most likely the player doesn't support artwork while playing.

When it doesn't display artwork for some files in a folder, but it's there once you go back in, it sounds like those files are newly added to the library and they are processed when you first access that folder - at that time artwork is generated, but you don't see it because it wasn't generated until you actually entered the folder. The next time you go, the artwork is ready and shown.
