    Default ROKU support

I just bought Mezzmo, and I know Mezzmo is a DLNA streamer, but it works so well on all my other devices, and ROKU doesn't support DLNA still. Other software like PlayOn supports the Roku somewhat, although very poorly (no fast forward/rewind/etc). It'd be awesome if Mezzmo released a Roku client - the ROKU market is massive and it's still missing an easy-to-use media streamer.

Thank you for the suggestion. At the moment there are no immediate plans to support non-DLNA compatible equipment, but we may look into this more in the future.

Perhaps an easier solution would be if Roku's firmware included a DLNA-compatible add-on (if Roku's firmware can be expanded in the first place) that could then talk to Mezzmo as other devices do.

Roku is a internet streaming box. Mezzmo is for a local network.

Dion - I completely disagree. The Roku and other similar devices are meant for displaying digital video/audio in whatever format on a display device. There are already various solutions for streaming local media through your Roku, but none of them are commercialized (IE they are hacked together and don't work as well as something like Mezzmo, much like most of the community DLNA streamers). Just turns out Roku has continued to exclude DLNA support for whatever stupid reason.

I joined this forum just so I could add my 2 cents about Roku. I am really impressed with both Mezzmo and Roku. But I think Mezzmo is in a better position than Roku for streaming from the PC to Roku. I seems like Mezzmo already has 90% of the solution in place, it would only need to add the url server functionality for the steaming. From an outsiders perspective it looks like the url streaming is a sub function of DLNA, where DLNA is much more difficult than being a url server. In fact, the Roksbox folks have a solution but lack an eloquent trans-coding solution like Mezzmo provides. The other way looks much more difficult and costly. The embedded platform of the Roku is resource limited. For them to add DLNA capability seems costly. I think Mezzmo is well positioned to provide an good solution for the Roku market.

Really the Mezzmo software but went ahead and installed the Plex Media Server so I could stream my local content to my two Roku Boxes

The Plex Media Server is not as capable or easy to use as Mezzmo. But it works.

I have an instance of Mezzmo running on my Windows Home Server 2011 - works great , I have never been able to get Plex Media server to run as service on any machine - you have to be logged on, which is not good practice for a server

Plex is also slow as molasses.

Would love to have Mezzmo support Roku boxes in the future.
