MKV or Mpeg-2 ...WHich would one would mezzmo prefer to stream?

I have been converting a lot of MKV files using TsMuxer due to the fact that some of these multi language mkv's always want to play in any language but english. When TsMuxer is done it ouputs to an MPEG2 file which is always about the same size as the original MKV file.

My question is.....should I covert the MPEG2 file back into MKV using mkvmerge or just leave it as MPEG2 ? Which file type makes my CPU work harder? I can't really tell .....

Did any of this make sense? I wish I could pick a language through Mezzmo and just keep the original MKV......

We'll have the ability to pick a language in one of the future updates.

For the time being, I'd keep them as MKVs, because the h264 video stream in those will require less bandwidth than an MPEG2 while keeping same or even higher quality. It also depends on your device, but if it can play MKVs natively, then I'd stick with that. You could also go to MPEG-TS with the same h264 video stream (AVCHD).

Dennis - This isn't entirely true. He is remuxing an .mkv into an .m2ts. There is no transcoding taking place and there should be no difference in bandwidth or quality, it's just a container swap. I remux all of my .mkv files with .m2ts. When it comes to trying to playback an HD file, my PS3 almost never hiccups on an .m2ts with .h264 and .ac3. The same can't be said for any other containers that I've used (.mp4, .m4v, .mpg, vob, etc.)

Ok, I think I got confused because the OP said MPEG2, which to me means MPEG2 video in a VOB or similar container, not an MPEG-TS container which is different. In that case, then yes, there's no need to re-code the files, as Mezzmo will remux them.
