    Default Video stutters on PS3

    Hi!

I used to have great quality when streaming to my PS3, but for a few weeks now, it stopped working. Videos now stutter badly and the CPU is maxed out with ffmpg. I don't remember if this problem coincides with one of the mezzmo updates, and I've changed nothing else in my setup.

The ffmpg information for a typical file looks like this:

ffmpeg version git-N-30186-gd9d5603, Copyright (c) 2000-2011 the FFmpeg developers

    Any suggestions?

    Hi Andrew,

Can you please check which device profile you are using for the PS3 (see the Media Devices dialog)? It's possible that the device profile changed for whatever reason and this causes this new behavior.

Such files should be passed through natively using the "Sony Playstation 3" device profile and they'll be transcoded using the other two.

Mezzmo Android: Install it on your tablet, smartphone, Android TV or Amazon Fire to browse and stream files from your Mezzmo library to all your devices. Full details at http://www.conceiva.com/products/mez...mo_android.asp

Thanks, Dennis, this is indeed what happened (it switched to (compatible)). But when I change it back, the PS3 refuses to play the file with an unsupported format error. Do you have any idea what I could be doing wrong?

    Thanks,

    Andrew

If that specific file doesn't play using the normal PS3 profile, then most likely there's something in its encoding that cannot be decoded by the PS3's built-in player. Did this same file play before without transcoding or just similar ones? You could try the "Sony Playstation 3 (No DivX)" device profile which should transcode this file and make it playable.

Also, we do have some updates for the PS3 device profile that are part of the upcoming Mezzmo 2.4, which should be released really soon. I'd recommend waiting for the update, then install 2.4 and try again. If that doesn't get the files going, then I'll be happy to continue working with you on fixing this.

I have a brand new install of Mezzmo on a WHS and streaming to a PS3 and I get studdering and long pause delays on 1080p mkv files. I can play all other files I have tried so far.
I am currently on the basic playstation 3 profile and I have tried the other 2 as well to no avail. I did a log file capture with one of the files but not really sure what Im looking for LOL.

Any suggestions, I can play the same file with PS3 media server without issue.

Please send the logs to support (at) conceiva (dot) com and I'll take a look.

We also have some updates for the PS3 device profile that may work better (I'll send them to you once I have your logs).

Thanks for the files, I did some quick testing and the studder seems to be gone. I will do more testing the next few days and let you know if it comes back. FANTASTIC customer service!

Default Studder fixed but new issue

Okay my studdering with the PS3 has been fixed but ran into a new issue. I was watching a DTS MKV file and part way thru the file the audio glitch-ed and set LOUD pure static to my sound system. pausing, fast ffw and rewinding the static stayed. I switched over to ps3 media server to test the file and no glitch occurred.

Any ideas? I am pretty sure I had logging turned on so could send the log file, and the info would be at the end of the log file when I stopped playback due to the static.

Sounds like an issue with audio transcoding. Yes, please send in the logs.
