Thread: Mezzmo 2.4.0.0, Samsung C series and MKV issues

Default Mezzmo 2.4.0.0, Samsung C series and MKV issues

I upgraded to the new version late last week when it came out and over the weekend I ended up giving up in frustration and reverting back to 2.3.2.0.

Main issue was with MKVs that played fine in 2.3.2.0 and didn't require transcoding (ie. they played natively on the tv), all started to transcode. Turning off transcoding meant the tv then told me it was an unsupported file format, so it must be delivering something wrong. I played around with the SamsungLA.prf file (mime type) with no success. I also have a Samsung Bluray player and it behaves in the same way with 2.4.0.0. (ie. it tries to transcode files that played without transocding in 2.3.2.0 and turn transcoding off it tells me unsupported file format).

I have now reverted back to 2.3.2.0 and the world is good again. I can set transcoding on and the MKV files I test under 2.4.0.0 that were transcoding play fine without transcoding in 2.3.2.0 and if I turn transcoding off they still play fine.

    Thanks,
    Rob

There were no changes to Samsung C/BDP device profiles that could cause this, so perhaps this is something else.

Can you please post FFmpeg information on those MKV files and I'll check them against the device profiles? I assume you're using "Samsung C" and "Samsung BDP" device profiles?

Also, can you please confirm that the correct device profiles are still selected for the devices (in 2.4)? This is just to rule out that during the upgrade the device profiles weren't assigned properly.

I am at work at the moment so will obtain ffmpeg info and post later tonight.

On 2.4.0.0 I checked the device profiles and the tv was using the Samsung C profile and the Bluray was using the Samsung BDP profile. Once I reverted back to 2.3.2.0 I checked the prf file to look for differences with the tv (ie. the SamsungLA.prf file) and I agree there was no difference in the header area for the mkv container. That makes me think it is a more deep seated issue.

    Thanks,
    Rob

What would be even better then, is if you could turn on logging with 2.4 (see this thread: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging) then try playing one of those failing MKVs and send in the logs (along with FFmpeg info) to support (at) conceiva (dot) com - that'll give us the full picture and should lead to a solution quicker.

Hi, I have the same issu, after upgrading to 2.4 some mkv files stop playing with transcoding off. I try to log also to help you find the problem. (I also have a Samsung, UE55C8705)

Sent logs and ffmpeg output last night.

Hopefully that helps diagnose the problem. Let me know if you need anything else.

    Thanks,

Thanks for the logs. We'll be investigating this and working on a fix once we understand what's wrong.

I would love to have the profiles for Samsung C and Samsung BDP too. Most of my mkvs are not working since i updated to 2.4.0.0
