Thread: Jerky Playback of AVCHD Files on BRAVIA HX925

Smile Jerky Playback of AVCHD Files on BRAVIA HX925

    Dear all,
since Update to Mezzmo 2.4.1 (i think the problem did start with this version), i have trouble with AVCHD File playback on my BRAVIA 55HX925.
The playback is jerky with various freezer every 10 - 15 seconds. Without Transcoding the playback is fine but i need transcoding for other clients in my household.
This problem only happens with specific AVCHD files recorded with Sony HDR-XR520 Camcorder and did not occur in the past with older Mezzmo Versions.

Other files as .mkv are fine. The TV is wired to the Network, my PC with Win7 (iCore5-750) has enough recources.
AVCHD playback did work fine the last month but since some weeks it's jerky with freezer.

When i use a BDP-S580 as DLNA Client the playback is fine also when transcoding is enabled.
Why TV is no good with AVCHD files bit BDP is good?

Please invastigate this issue and give me instructions how to solve the problem.

Can you please post FFmpeg information on one of those files (in Mezzmo right-click on the file and use the "Get FFmpeg Information" command) and we'll see if there's already a fix for that.

Also, please update to 2.4.2, if you haven't already, as it contains some more fixes over 2.4.1.

    Hi Christian,

If that file plays with transcoding turned off and looks fine, then it sounds like a new device profile for the new models of Bravias is needed. Can you please e-mail support (at) conceiva (dot) com and I'll send you a device profile to try.

    Hi Dennis,

thanks. I will follow it an send you an Email.

By the way, i did now downgrade to version 2.3.2.0 and with this version the playback of my AVCHD Files is fine as it should be.
I currently see two issues with version 2.4.x and BRAVIA (2011) TV's:

    a) jerky playback
    b) various freezer

To specify issue a) I think soemthing is wrong with the frame rate of transcoded file. It looks like that transcoder does change the frame rate of my AVCHD files from 50Hz (original) to 60Hz.
Maybe thats it why it looks jerky.

With Mezzmo version 2.3.2.0 playback is totally smooth as it should be.

I'll get back to you via e-mail, but the difference in the Bravia device profile between 2.3.2 and 2.4.x is that the latter transcodes MPEG-TS files with high bitrates that were found to be incompatible with some Bravia models, thus it'll probably need another device profile for the TVs that can handle high bitrates and don't require transcoding.
