Default External Subs on Sony Bravia 32EX720

    Hi,

Recently i switched over to using Mezzmo. I am very satisfied with its performance especially streaming videos with on the fly transcoding and the stable connection it has as compared to other streaming services.

One major issue i have is that external subs are not appearing. I have some tv dramas which are in foreign languages and i am unable to watch them because of the subtitles issue. I have the .srt files in the same folder as the videos and they also have the same file names.

I've read on some threads and saw that Mezzmo is implementing the "burning" of subtitles when transcoding. I assume it is similar to what PS3MS is doing. I can view external subs on PS3MS but its quite an unstable piece of software for me to use. I am using Mezzmo 2.4.3.0, is the burning in of subtitles supposed to be working as of now for Sony Bravia TV or the update for it is still not released yet? I have been checking the updates logs for past few versions and i am unsure what some of them exactly means. If the feature has been implemented can someone kindly guide me on how to get my .srt (soft subs) to show up on my Sony Tv?

    Your help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

Thank you - I'm glad that you like Mezzmo.

Unfortunately that feature is not released yet - we're still working on it, but it's being actively developed, so should be released one day.

    Hi,

So, as of now, should I or should I not see subtitles on a SONY BDP 570.
If I should, is there anything in particular that I have to do, because it's not working for me.

    Thank you

No, the version of Mezzmo that supports burning-in subtitles has not been released yet.

I can't give any official ETAs on releases, but it's not too far away. First, the pre-transcoding version will be released and after that the subtitles.

Just to check again, has the burn-in feature for subtitles been implemented into mezzmo yet? I have been reading the updates on the website but i have not been able to see anything related to it. I have seen updates for Sony TV but it did not mention anything about burning in of subtitles.

I am actually thinking of purchasing Mezzmo the minute this is implemented.

Is there any news of it yet?

The new subtitle features that have been mentioned on this forum have not yet been released. We're still developing the new subtitle engine in Mezzmo and we expect it to be released in early 2012. Sorry for the delay and thanks for your patience.

Great! Really looking forward to the new subtitles engine. I will definitely purchase a copy of Mezzmo when it happens. Hopefully i don't find any other better software out there in the market before the new subtitle engine is out
