Question Mezzmo. HTC EVO 3d, UpnP Video files not playing

I have installed Rockplayer, iMediaShare and other UPnP capable players on my Android HTC Evo 3d. The Mezzmo server has been configured for a Rockplayer media device using wireless A/G/Y.

I can access my pictures and music with no problem. Videos will not play. iMediaShare will try and load the video but goes on endlessly with a black screen and no video. It does not give me the option to use another player such as Rockplayer, like it does when I open music and pictures over UPnP. I have tried many different video file formats with no success.

None of the UPnP enabled apps I have installed will play any of my video files with Mezzmo as the DLNA server. Mezzmo works well with all of my other devices. I have tried other Android based device settings in Mezzmo with no success. What am I missing?

There should be a setting to set RockPlayer as the default video player, if it doesn't prompt you when you try to play the file. If that cannot be done, then video files will have to be fully transcoded first and then you'll need to use a different device profile (not RockPlayer) in Mezzmo to make them correctly transcoded.

What version of Android is it?

Using Android 2.3 on an HTC Evo 3d.

I do not know how to make Rock Player the default video player. As far as I can tell Rock Player has no internal ability to connect to a DLNA server. iMedaShare is the app that accesses the file over UPnP. If iMediaShare does not know how to play a file, then a pop up will appear with suggestions for a different player. In my situation I get no pop up and no option to use Rock Player. Instead iMediaShare attempts to play the video file, but nothing plays.

I have tried other devices and apps with Mezzmo with no results. Music and pictures play, videos do not.

The Evo 3d is a very popular phone in the US. Maybe a specific profile can be created in Mezzmo to make it connect.

The reason why we want to use RockPlayer is because it extends formats supported by the Android natively (which is mostly MP4), as we cannot transcode videos to play in real-time in the MP4 format (because of the MOOV ATOM that needs to be placed after the file has finished transcoding).

Yes, I meant using RockPlayer through iMediaShare. I remember I had to reset the default players somewhere on another device - perhaps that's what you need to do somehow. Unfortunately I don't know how it's done on your specific device. I think if you can get RockPlayer to try and play those files, then things will start working. The other option is to start playing a file, let it transcode in the background and then watch it. We'll also have a version of Mezzmo out soon with pre-transcoding, so you'll be able to prepare your files in advance.
