Is there a way to password protect a folder we have some rated r movies and so forth that we want to be able to see but keep our kids from seeing is there a way we can enter a password when we want to watch our movies?

Not at the moment. The DLNA does not provide for such functionality, unfortunately, so we are thinking of creating some sort of PIN protection or such using some tricks, but nothing has been implemented yet.
If you are all sharing the same device (so you can use playlist permissions), you could have those movies in another user's database and start/stop that server as needed as a sort of a workaround.
