Post Streaming Fault on i7 Win 7 PC

Hi I did a trial of Mezzmo and then purchased it as it worked well with my LG BD Player a BX580. The issue I'm having is that the MT2S files don't play on the device for more than a few minutes. I'm running a standard LAN cable from the router to the BX580 and the BluRay movies I'm trying to play are a direct copy of the disc, no ripping or recoding.

The i7 with 8GB ram seems to max out on the transcoding of these files, so I've reduced the resolution to reduce the load on the CPU, this increases the time that it will stream for from full 1080 with DTS running about 2-3 minutes, to 720 running about 15. I can play these bluray files on the BX580 but the sound track the the BD player plays is always the wrong one and as I cycle through them it'll play every sound track bar english with no comentary.

All the settings in Mezzmo are standard except the resolution of the transcoding (which as discussed, I've reduced). Is there a way to increase the transcode buffer or precode movies to watch?

The best solution would be one that would pass thru the video and the correct audio track so it doesn't run the CPU at max.

What I really can't understand is that it worked great in the trial..?

Well any help is appreciated and if this sounds a bit rambled, it's because I have the flu.

    Thanks
    Clinton

    Hi Clinton,

Can you please tell me which device profile you are using and also right-click on one of those files in Mezzmo and post the output of the "Get FFmpeg Information" command, so that I could check what the file actually is.

Also, I'd recommend changing all settings back to default, so that we don't trigger transcoding when it's not needed.

    Hi Dennis,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I've included the file info as requested (below). I have also reset everything in the software to default settings.

The profile I'm using is: LG Bluray (LPCm)

    Thanks for the file info.

The file is going to be transcoded because of the DTS audio track (the first one). If you turn transcoding off, does the file play? More specifically, do you know if you device supports DTS in an MPEG-TS container? If it does, we can add that to the device profile and such files will be passed through and then the device will let you choose the audio.

If I turn of the transcoding it plays the file, but in a different language. I think that the BX580 needs the audio to be transcoded, but the video is fine. Should I rip the blurays in future instead of straight copying?

    Look forward to your reply.

    Thank you.

Sounds like the device is picking one of the AC3 streams instead of DTS.

Mezzmo should be able to remux that file actually, but it won't let you choose the correct language, when there are multiple languages. If you can rip into MKV, for example, and drop audio streams you don't need, then it'll make it easier for the BDP and Mezzmo to play these files.

Yes I think you're right regarding it playing the AC3 audio. It does support DTS though and DTS passthru via the HDMI cable, so that's quite baffling why it doesn't play that audio track.

Well in moving forward, I'll try a rip to the MKV type. I have AVS video converter and DVD-fab. How do I choose the audio track when ripping with these packages? (I know this isn't necessarily your field of expertise)

    Thanks

I haven't used those products, but I would think that before you rip you can choose a language you want to rip (or pick from a list of audio tracks which ones you want to keep). If not, after you rip, you can remove unnecessary tracks using MKVtoolnix.

Ok that's great thanks. I'll give that a try this evening and let you know how I go. Thanks for the tip on the MKVtoolnix.
