    Default Samsung B TV not playing files with same format

    Hello all,

    I am going crazzy with this problem:

    I do a test with a blu-ray that I own and using aiseesoft blu-ray ripper I perform a trial on a movie and convert a couple of minutes to mp4.

    this is the file:

    ffmpeg version N-33093-gb4483a5, Copyright (c) 2000-2011 the FFmpeg developers
    built on Sep 29 2011 14:54:32 with gcc 4.4.2

    Seems stream 0 codec frame rate differs from container frame rate: 59.94 (60000/1001) -> 29.97 (2997/100)
    Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from 'C:\Users\Rafa\Videos\Harry Potter\xbox h264 1080.mp4':
    Metadata:
    major_brand : isom
    minor_version : 512
    compatible_brands: isomiso2avc1mp41
    creation_time : 1970-01-01 00:00:00
    encoder : Lavf52.39.0
    Duration: 00:00:57.72, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 4130 kb/s
    Stream #0:0(und): Video: h264 (Main) (avc1 / 0x31637661), yuv420p, 1920x1080 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], 3997 kb/s, 29.97 fps, 29.97 tbr, 2997 tbn, 59.94 tbc
    Metadata:
    creation_time : 1970-01-01 00:00:00
    Stream #0:1(und): Audio: aac (mp4a / 0x6134706D), 44100 Hz, stereo, s16, 128 kb/s
    Metadata:
    creation_time : 1970-01-01 00:00:00
    At least one output file must be specified

    ---> DB Level Info: 40, 77
    ---> Frame rate: 29.97
    ---> Aspect ratio: 16:9

    which runs perfectly, ffw, rew, everything.

    Then, if I convert the entire movie using same program, version, setting, everything the same, it says format not supported (transcoding always disabled)

    This file:

    Any ideas ?

    Did you re-add the new file to Mezzmo or just replaced the old one? If the latter, then Mezzmo will send information about the previous file to the device, which may cause it to break.

    Hi Dennis, thanks for your answer, I thought it could be something like that so I have tried both things.

    I have tried to use another encoding program (AVS video encoder), now results are aven funnier....

    If I encode 5, 10, 13 minutes of film (haven't tried longer) it works perfectly, if I encode the entire movie (2 hours 40 mins) I can see the video, I can ffw and rew but no sound, it says at the beginning "audio codec not supported".
    My settings, as I said, exactly the same than for the 5 minutes trial (audio codec mpeg-2/4 - 44100 hx - 16 bit - 64 kbps - stereo).

    Very frustrating..... Don't get me wrong, I am blaming my tv, but very frustrating...

    Best regards,

    Rafa

    Hi Rafa,

    I would first blame the encoding software actually. A lot of these encoders will use the same libraries under the hood, so they may produce similar results. To check, see the FFmpeg output for the file created by AVS and check the version of encoder in the metadata (or post here and I'll take a look).

    Thanks again for your answer Dennis,

    Any recommendation on encoding software ? I would gladly try something different.

    Here is the info of a 1 minute encoding using avs, works like a charm.... again, full movie does not.

    Well, I haven't tried this software myself, but one person had a very similar issue and used XenonMKV to resolve it. Perhaps give that a try and see if that works for you as well.
