Default Should my Humax FoxSat HDR show up as a media device in mezzmo?

Quick question - Should my Humax FoxSat HDR show up as a media device in mezzmo? I can access it through windows 7 but not within Mezzmo.

The manual for it doesn't seem to specify that it has a DLNA client/player built-in. If it doesn't, then Mezzmo cannot stream files to it. When you access it through Windows what can you do with it?

Mezzmo Android: Install it on your tablet, smartphone, Android TV or Amazon Fire to browse and stream files from your Mezzmo library to all your devices. Full details at http://www.conceiva.com/products/mez...mo_android.asp
Mezzmo for Kodi Add-on: Install it into Kodi to stream files from your Mezzmo library directly in Kodi. Full details at http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?...odi_user_guide
Mezzmo for Roku App: Install it onto your Roku to stream files from your Mezzmo library. Full details at http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?...oku_user_guide

    Hi
Thanks Dennis– Yes, Forgive my ignorance, does that mean that devices only show up if you can stream to them and not if you want just want to access media on them? No Problem I can just add the Humax media as a folder into Mezzmo.

OK after a bit of experimentation (I am rather slow at all this)……

I can see the Humax’s content in Win7, play the content on networked computers see the content listings on the TV I’m good to go except my TV won’t play Humax TS files.

I need to transcode Humax ts files because they won’t play natively on my Samsung UE40D6200 TV whereas other TS files work ok on it. That’s what I need Mezzmo for……

Mezzmo correctly identifies the TV as SamsungD, however because this series plays ts files Mezzmo doesn’t remux them!

I’ve edited the SamsungD profile so that it transcodes TS files but no other formats except flv files but the original profile seems to transcode those also. So now I can watch video stored on the computer. I do lose the ability to move forward. This is perhaps a result of my hatchet attack on the profile – my apologies to the coders who finely crafted this file.

Is it possible for the ts files to be remuxed into ts files without losing the ability to skip forward?
Is there any way to prevent Mezzmo transcoding flv files?

I’ve added the Humax’s networked video folder into Mezzmo – when I try to access the files from the TV using Mezzmo and go to folders the device is unobtainable, reduce the number of files in a folder to around 20 and it seems to work. Whereas if I create playlists Mezzmo does its thing and I can list and view any number of files. Any ideas why this might be? Again perhaps it’s a limitation of the TV.

When adding folders from the Humax into Mezzmo I get a lot of .BLABLABLA folders I think they’re hidden Linux folders responsible for indexing the thumbnails for the vids – Is there any way to filter out certain folders when doing an add folder operation for example - don’t add any folder starting with a dot. I would like to retain the same folder structure in Mezzmo as on the Humax.

Mezzmo’s ability to take files off my Humax remux on the fly and send them anywhere on my network is nothing short of brilliant – not to mention I can access the files in windows media player use the play to function and send the files to individual tvs. To be honest I’m like a dog with two d..ks. Next experiment does this work over the internet? So I can watch when I’m away………..
    Keep up the good work

    regards

Hi. Yes, Mezzmo only lists media clients.

Can you please send one such file to support (at) conceiva (dot) com via a site like www.megaupload.com (or similar), so that we could take a look at what's in the file? If it's not possible, please post FFmpeg information on such a file (in Mezzmo right-click on the file and use the "Get FFmpeg Information" command). Also, please send your modified device profile to support as well and we'll see if anything needs fixing in it to make it work better.

Is it possible for the ts files to be remuxed into ts files without losing the ability to skip forward?
This may be the TV's firmware that's removing that ability for transcoded files. If you play an already transcoded TS, does it let you skip?

Does the TV support FLV files natively? If it does, then yes, we can add that to the device profile, but the manual for your TV doesn't mention FLVs as being supported.

We'll need to see logs for that - please enable logging (see this thread: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread...nostic-logging) then try accessing that folder and once you get the error, stop the server and send the logs to support.

By default hidden folders are not added, but there's no mechanism to exclude particular folders at the moment. We'll consider adding more control over this in future versions.

I'm glad you like Mezzmo Streaming over Internet is not directly supported, but there are people who have done this. If you search this forum, you should hit a couple of posts on this.

    Hi Dennis

Logs, profile and sample file have been sent to support.

This may be the TV's firmware that's removing that ability for transcoded files. If you play an already transcoded TS, does it let you skip?
I tested with some files I've transcoded without Mezzmo and I can "Time Search" and Skip at speeds 1X, 2X and 3X. Reverting back to the original SamsungD profile these don't get altered and play perfectly but the majority of my TS files from the Humax result in unsupported format.

Does the TV support FLV files natively? If it does, then yes, we can add that to the device profile, but the manual for your TV doesn't mention FLVs as being supported.
Tested this again - you're right. The TV will play FLVs but only through the USB - Doesn't even show up in the file listing via DNLA - unless using Mezzmo

    Thanks for your help
