Default Playing one file after the other without having to select each time

    Hi,

I have a folder called videomusic in which I have a bunch of music videos that I have downloaded from youtube. The format is either mp4 or flv. I have created a play list and when I try to play this on my LG TV I have to drill into the playlist and then select a video and then once that video finishes I have to select the next video and so on. I was hoping I could create a playlist of 10 or so songs and let it run without any user intervention.

I have tried playlist and smartlist. The files get selected correctly as I can see them listed both on mezzmo UI and the TV UI, but the auto-play is not working, or at least I am not able to get it to work.

    Regards,
    Irving

    Hi Irving,

This needs to be enabled on the TV actually. What you can do is go into this playlist on the TV, then use the blue button to enter "mark mode", then press the green button to "mark all" and then red to "play marked".

    Hi Dennis,

First of all thanks a lot for your response. I tried implementing your suggestion, however that didnt work on my TV (LG 55WL5600). I somehow think that there should be a server side solution to this also. Server should automatically stream the next file, afterall isnt that the definition of a playlist.

    Cheers,
    Irving

    Hi Irving,

Can you please tell me what didn't work? Does your TV have those options when you are inside a playlist?

The server cannot just send a file to a TV - the TV has to request it, that's how the DMS/DMP technology works. Some TVs (or other devices) have a special "renderer" interface (DMR) and thus it's possible to "push" content to those TVs, but Mezzmo does not have that functionality yet. If your TV is not a DMR it won't help in any case though.

    Hi Dennis,

On my TV when I was inside the playlist folder and selected the blue button it did not do anything. Apparently there is no mark mode. Is there a definite way to tell if my TV is DMR?

What baffles me is that if I have a folder with .MTS files (the files created by my sony camcorder in AVCHD format) the files are played one after the other without any problem.
Similarly if I have mutiple VOB files in a folder (say when I create a folder after ripping a video DVD) they are played one after the other without any issues.

So I am not sure why the files play one after the other when they are VOB or MTS and why they do not play when they are mp4.

    Regards,
    Irving

    Hi Irving,

Do you mean playing those files from a USB stick or through Mezzmo as well? I agree, it would be a bit strange if it worked on one file type, but not the other from the same media.

Can you please post FFmpeg information on one of those MP4 files, so that I could check whether they are passed through or transcoded (in Mezzmo right-click on the file and use the "Get FFmpeg Information" command)?
