    Default Native File Formats

    Hello,

Is there a place where I can find native file formats for the PS3 and Sony Bravia TVs?
I have searched and found conflicting answers. The problem is that with both, we have to pause occasionally to let the transcoding catch up.
We have a decent machine, but it is getting annoying.

    Thanks

Unfortunately, there is no one-stop definitive list to look at. For Sony Bravia TVs, there are so many models of TVs in different regions around the world that support different sets of image, video and audio formats.

Let us know a few things about your setup and maybe we can improve things for you:

    • what is the model of your Sony Bravia TV?
    • what device profile do you have selected in Mezzmo for your Sony Bravia TV?
    • what device profile do you have selected in Mezzmo for your PS3?
    • what is the spec of your computer that has Mezzmo installed? CPU, RAM, network (wired, wireless N, etc.)
    • what is the FFmpeg information for a few of the files that are slow to deliver (i.e. you have to pause). To do this, right-click on the file in Mezzmo and click 'Get FFmpeg information'

Post all this information here or, alternatively, send us an email to support [at] conceiva [dot] com and we'll look into it.

Thank you, I'd like to think ahead as we may start ripping blu-rays and don't want the problem to get worse.

PS3 set to Sony Playstation 3 (Compatible)

This is a short movie that had to be paused 4 or 5 times to catch up.

Given you have a PS3 and Sony Bravia, then I suggest you rip to the following file format so that both devices will play them natively and not require Mezzmo to transcode on-the-fly:

    Container: mpegts
Video channel: h264 (Main), level 41, max 6M video bitrate
Audio channel: ac3, max 448000 audio bitrate

Try this on one of your Blu-ray rips and stream it with Mezzmo to your devices. Let me know how it goes.

(Just to add: Your i5 CPU and 2GB RAM are probably a little underpowered for transcoding HD 1080p video on-the-fly, so that explains why you were getting pausing/stuttering in your previous tests.)
